PIONEER 1975 smsff B ' .. £T u - %ik- . .. - Zf j- Tti - • :4BEtuM r+ ■ ■ '. • ■ U- • £ S ; $2$8 xZ fe- Published by the Students of Exeter Township Senior High ' Reiffton, Reading, Pa. Every part of nature teaches that the passing away of one life is making room for another. The oak dies down to the ground leaving within its rind a rich virgin mould, which will impart a vigorous life to an infant forest. So this constant abrasion and decay makes the soil of our future growth. As I live now so shall I reap. It is wonderful what gradation and harmony there is in nature. The light reflected from bare twigs at this season is like that which will ere long be reflected from the ice that were incrust -ing them. So the bleached herbage of the fields is like frost and frost like snow and one prepares for the other. 2 These are true mornings of creation, original and poetic days, not mere repetitions of the past. There is no lingering of yesterday's fogs, only such a mist that might have adorned the first morning. I Want To Go Away Soon And Live By The Pond, Where I Shall Hear Only The Wind Whispering Among The Reeds. It Will Be Success If I Shall Have Left Myself Behind. CftHXOTIW ABOVE—First Row: B. On a Sunday afternoon in May. . . BACCALAUREATE AND COMMENCEMENT OUCH—That's me . . . The final rites of the Class of 1975 find a few doubts in the mind, some hesitation in the step and a brief moistening of the eye. It's all over . . . and still . . . Though we may go our separate ways, remembering you through all our days . . . Hail, Alma Mater! The Graduates listen to the speakers and smile, for commencement is also joyful. No more lessons ... no more books ... no more teachers . . . Tomorrow I'm going to . . . 136 Early evening on the 4th of June 1975 . . . Two by Two . . . The guide is right. Faculty, Parents and . . . uh . . . Some came early. Music hath charm. It gives me great pleasure to . . . 137 Now hear this . . . Oh Exeter to thee we raise our gratitude . . . ii We finally got our chance to speak our minds. This I believe As we go forward . . . There is much more in our world that needs changing. 139 The envelope, please. The Class of 1975 passes on . . . These Spring Days Are Peculiarly Pleasant. Efforts of PIONEER Staff Produce Yearbook PIONEER ’75 is not dedicated to anyone or thing but rather inspired to the works of Henry David Thoreau. Based on the school seasons, we have combined Thoreau's ideas with the events of the 1974-75 school year. Many people have worked hard laying out and designing pages, writing copy, and finding pictures. The staff deserves much praise because without them memories would fade too soon and faces would be forgotten. 182 TOP LEFT—Editors Frank Rogers, Gale Ringler and Cathie Geiger pause during a busy winter picture taking session. ABOVE—Everybody is camera happy. Luckily senior photography editor Frank Rogers takes it in his stride. BELOW— Co-Editors-in-chief: Gale Ringler and Cathie Geiger Senior Photography editor: Frank Rogers, Advisor Mr. Harry Shank, Business Manager Miss Gail Batastini. Der Faithful Fuhrer of the PIONEER and Peanuts nut is SocialStudies teacher Mr. Harry Shank. As his occupation following his vocation Mr. Shank spends many hours rereading, correcting and complaning a-bout the staff's diligent efforts. Bud advises the Class of 'll and enjoys learning about humanities. 183 And Then the Sun Goes Down, 184 185 Throughout its pages, you have lA rved our inspiration for th uJi T p’EER of 1975 . . Simil M Pff Mwid Thoreau found in the olitude of nature a source of aboundance, a place to think and reflect and the greatest subject for writing. Each new year is a surprise to us. We find that we had virtually for-gotton the note of each bird and when we hear it again it is remembered like a dream. The associations it awakens are always pleasing, never sadening. The voice of nature is always encouraging. • • Gale Ringler Cathie Geiger Co-Editors ■;v ■; .
