Atit Jfc BaM£jUJpt The magnificent Eagles fly with Victory to the Annual Athletic Banquet. Families, friends, and the local community gather to honor the athletes, managers, and coaches, who have worked hard all year and provided an example of good sportsmanship and enjoyment to others. The decorations consisted of the basketball banners, 12 high flying eagles- one representing each senior, and balloon bouquets on each table. Each senior was presented with a boy girl statue outfitted in the uniform of their favorite sport, and a membership in the Booster Club. The entertainment was provided by the Head Coaches as usual. Coach Fitzgerald and Coach Wilbeck exchange their customary banter on individual college superiority (Peru vs Wayne). This year Coach Shafer became involved in this battle of wit, by announcing the long awaited renaming of Wayne State College to Wilbeck State College. Coach Fitzgerald expanded his monolog to include an impression of Paul Harvey's The Rest of the Story, which included tales of over weight luggage, lost hot air balloons-later rescued by NPPD, forgotten shoes and Shorts, and assistant coaches who get left behind. For all the wit and laughs the evening highlighted youngsters that any school system would be proud to call their own.
