Where will I be? So many questions and choices for me I must show leadership but deep down inside There’s still a little girl who only wants to hide My senior year, I must grow strong Prepare myself for a life so long I’m excited and proud of the things I’ve achieved And especially thankful for the goodness I’ve received I’ll be glad to get out on a life of my own To show Mom Dad how much I have grown There are many nice things to remember 'til the end And I will always cherish, the people, my friends Thoughts! For the first time ever, the Lady Eagles made it to the state tournament in Lincoln. It was a dream come true. Even though they came up short and received a silver medal, they kept Exeter on the map! The Lady Eagles ended the year with a 20-4 record. The damper of the Lincoln trip was the last night at McDonald’s. One goal was to win the CRC title 3 years in a row. The Lady Eagles fought to the death with McCool and achieved their first goal. The next was to make it back to Lincoln! They did, winning their first two games. Then came the last and most difficult, to face Adams for the championship. The fans packed in to yell only to see their dreams stopped short! For the second time this year, the Lady Eagles had to be gracious losers. For years to come we should remember that no matter how bad things seem, you never ever give up. To the Lady Eagles, the year of ’87 was clearly a year of silver. The highlights most remembered on the trip in Lincoln are: when the team went to the Capital and Lisa, Mel and Ranell got a tan and Coach Faris was left at Lincoln East! Families, friends, and the local community gather to honor the athletes, managers, and coaches, who have worked hard all year and provided an example of good sportsmanship and enjoyment to others. The decorations consisted of the basketball banners, 12 high flying eagles- one representing each senior, and balloon bouquets on each table. Each senior was presented with a boy girl statue outfitted in the uniform of their favorite sport, and a membership in the Booster Club. The entertainment was provided by the Head Coaches as usual. Coach Fitzgerald and Coach Wilbeck exchange their customary banter on individual college superiority (Peru vs Wayne). This year Coach Shafer became involved in this battle of wit, by announcing the long awaited renaming of Wayne State College to Wilbeck State College. Coach Fitzgerald expanded his monolog to include an impression of Paul Harvey's The Rest of the Story, which included tales of over weight luggage, lost hot air balloons-later rescued by NPPD, forgotten shoes and Shorts, and assistant coaches who get left behind. For all the wit and laughs the evening highlighted youngsters that any school system would be proud to call their own.
