The Exeter Eagles football team had a 4-5 season. The team placed third in the Crossroads Conference. This year may have been just what the Eagles needed to get them back on track to see some winning sea- sons! Two of our players re- ceived Conference recogni- tion. Senior Ben Bristol was named 2nd team, all- Conference, defensive back. Senior Matt Lee was named Honorable Mention center and defensive guard. The Fabulous Five : Bill Lewis, Darren Weber, Matt Lee, Mike Ekeler, Ben Bristol Team captains this year were Darren Weber, Matt Lee and Ben Bristol. After defeating State Champs, Friend, the Eagles landed a spot in the D-l ratings. After the rat- ings the Eagles could never quite get it together. Losing first round to Fairmont in both Con- ference and District play. The Eagles took a 2nd place finish at the Deshler Tournament. The Eagles ended the season 8-7. Kelli Ruhl was chosen on the Conference Honorable Mention team and Darcy Cudaback was chosen All State Honorable Mention and 2nd Team All Con- ference. J.V. Team: Front Row, L to R: L. Sweetland, A. The team anchored by Co- Captains, Senior Brad Heffelfinger and Junior Ted Hoffman, competed in seven meets, scoring in four of those meets. The younger team members, Sophomores David Rozanek and Tom Shafer, and Freshman Mark Miller, ran reserve part of the season. Ted Hoffman qualified for state and placed 23rd. Ted crossed the finish line with the top third. Next year looks promising as four of the five team members Left to Right Front Row: Mark Miller, Tom Shafer, David Rozanek. Back be returning. NIGHTS TO REMEMBER The flying Eagles went into the season with confidence having many fine players back from last year. Throughout the year, many of the Eagles games were decided at the buzzer, and usually ended in a one or two point decision. The Eagles entered the CRC Tour- nament seeded fifth and made it to the semi-finals, coming home with third place. The Eagles entered their sub-dis- tricts hoping for a rematch with the 1 team in the state, McCool, who had defeated them twice pre- viously in the season. Their wish was granted and they proved to everyone that they also were one of the best teams in the state play- ing McCool closer than nearly any other team. Jr. Varsity: Back Row J. Coffey, T. The girls BB season had many highlights. They encountered many tough opponents and went into the Crossroads Con- ference ranked 5th. With alot of hard work they made it to the final round and met up with the McCool Mustangs, who they defeated for the sec- ond time in the season. Everything was looking up for the Eagles. They were ranked 4 in the state when they en- tered sub-district finals, again facing their new-found archri- val McCool. But things didn't go just right, we lost a close game and ended our season at 14-4 and ranked 8th in state. The Eagles are looking for- ward to next year and hope to have another winning season. The Juniors, un- der the supervision of Ms. Faris, did a fantastic job decorating the gym ... the 57' Chevy was a special de- light. What would any of us do without our great cooks? The Junior Moms fixed mouth-watering prime rib, scalloped pota- toes, salad and hot fudge sundaes! It was definitely a PROM TO REMEMBER. 62 ON THE DARK SIDE REMEMBER SPECIAL STUDENTS Honors Night is a night of recognition and reward.
