FORE WORD Enduring traditions of yesterday are daily present on Excelsior's campus. The classical structure of old Spanish buildings defying changeg the statues of Lincoln and Washington, standing silently in our auditor- ium have endured through the years. These along with many time-worn traditions help to establish the uniqueness that is Excelsior. Excelsior's uniqueness began as far back as 1902 when a class of twenty-three students and three faculty members met at the old Norwalk Grammar School on Walnut Street. The class chose green and white as their school colors and were called Excelsiorites. As the years passed to the twenties, Excelsiorites saw plans under way for the construction of a new Excelsior Union High School on Pioneer and Alondra and in 1924 the first classes were held in this new building. During this era, slick haired boys and girls, wearing the latest bobs',, introduced such traditions as Senior Hor- oscope and organized the Big E Club, a club which is today known as the Varsity Club. During the next decade an earthquake brought destruction to Excelsior and in 1935 it was necessary to rebuild our administration building. The thirties also brought many new traditions. A Boys' League was established and it became customary for juniors to receive sweaters and seniors to receive rings. TABLE OF CONTENTS Asithe fo adopted freshmen with and Big Sisters.
