Freshmen found time to smile as they were introduced to Pilot traditions. The class of '68 assembled in the auditorium a short time prior to the beginning of the school year for the traditional Orientation Day. On this day the fresh- men were introduced briefly to high school life. They were given a guided tour of Excelsior's campus and got a chance to visit some of their classes before the serious business of day to day school work began. As usual the very important Orientation Day event proved successful. The incoming frosh asked many questions about Excelsior, and queries like the follow- ing were heard as our new students became ac- quainted with the campus and school-day procedure: Is room 17 in this building? Wherels the boy's gym? g'Where would one find the library? Assembly Welcomed Student Body The first assembly of the school year was held to orientate the class of '68 and welcome back all Pilots from a long summer vacation. Majorettes, as well as song and yell leaders, were introduced to the student body. Students were en- couraged to support the football team and help get the school year started off on the right foot. All school officers were on hand to give a summary of their plans for the year's activities.
