From the many attempts at perfection, a few emerge as award winners, possessors of the coveted Oscar. This is the highest award moviemakers can give to their colleagues. ln our effort The Excelsior Story we feel that one performance is worthy of an award symbolic of perfection of effort. His part in the play has been multifold: actor, director, assistant to others. He could be seen for the past twenty- seven years shaping the minds of all the students at Ex- celsior by opening the bright world for their eyes, bringing to the classroom the wonders of learning by the vehicle of motion pictures. He used a proiector as his magic wand and film as a magic carpet. Now after twenty-seven years as guide and companion on these tours he is retiring to days of ease and relaxation: beginning his own story, though Excelsior's story will be forever a part of his, and his forever a part of the Excelsior story. For these reason we have dedicated the 1959 El Aviador to Mr. Hugh Yost.
