HELEN BRYAN Dean of Girls With one hundred and one scenes to be shot on our production schedule our assistant principal, Miss Lucile Tombs, was kept con- stantly busy. She helped in the planning and directing of assemblies, activities, and many other events in which the members of Pilot- ville participated and also viewed. MR. RICHARD JAMES Dean of Boys During the year problems were bound to arise among the members of a cast as large as ours. Members of the Girls' league found Mrs. Helen Bryan, Dean of Girls, always will- ing to advise and to help with the many and varied problems which found their way into her office.

THE PRlNCIPAL'S MESSAGE Our annual is a reminder of the friends and events that filled our days at school. In coming years its pages will revive for us the people and ex- periences that make school days truly golden days. The important and lasting ejects of our schooling, however are not easily recorded on the pages of a yearbook. W'hat we ahsorh from classes, lessons, reading - how much we strengthen in doing our work well, in facing dijficult tasks with determination - how much we grow in dealing with others through our many daily contacts - the sum of these things measures the worth of our schooling. I trust that what you carry from Excelsior in your head and heart will he as valuable as the memories you carry in this hook.

It is his iob to make sure the members of our cast are not absent from their work without a legal excuse. For how can any production be well done without the full cooperation and support of the cast? In order for a show to go on, technical advice is needed. Filling this all-important task this year were the counselors. The students of all classes came to the counselors during this year for any technical advice which they may have needed. The seniors came to find out about scholarships and colleges, and other students to get help in pro- gram changes and other general problems. MRS. DOROTHY POTEAT Junior Counselor MR.
