- THERE WERE SEVERAL - MR. ALONZO VALENTINE MR. RICHARD GAHR Moving into the position of Superintendent of Schools is Mr. Richard Gahr, principal of Excelsior. During his 26 years at Excelsior Mr. Gahr served as teacher, Director of Guidance and Principal, on his way to his new position. Taking his place will be Mr. Alonzo Valentine. This will be a natural step, since his present iob is Assistant Principal. Duties of the principal were to direct the administration officers and teachers, work with the Parent Teachers Association, and to provide an educational program For the entire school.

Togue Board of Trustees The Excelsior High School Board of Trustees, consisted of Five mem- bers, one From each division ofthe district, met monthly For the past year under the leadership of Dr. Carl W. Tague. The board's main duties were that oF setting up rules and regulations For the three high schools, handling all inter-district business, serious discipline problems, and special requests that came up. r Robert Ashton The heart of activities was the office of Miss Lucille Tombs, Girls' Vice Pri n ci pa l of Excelsior High School. Her duties of this oFFice consisted of helping girls with maior problems in and out of school. Getting out the school bulletin , which regulated Excelsior High School's day, and the main activi- ties on the school campus. Miss Lucille Tombs, earned the admira- tion oF the girls as the supervisor oF the Girls' League. She madethe lite at Excelsior more pleasant. Girls' Vice Principal WHO GUIDED STUDENTS A -191.4 A . 1 is Boys' Vice Principal Mr. Robert Ashton became Boys' Vice Principal in T954-. This year and the years since he has tried to understand the boys and their many problems. He has helped many of the boys to Find iobs, and to succeed after their graduation. Promoting boys' educational re- creational activities are some of the many duties he was interested in.
