Thomsen A- WCIYmife As debits balance with credits, our secre- taries did their iob of balancing the problems of the administration and faculty with those of the student body and students. They did their job of keeping the student and financial records correct and up to date. Also included among the secre- taries are the people in charge of the Book Room, and Girls Gym. Excelsior's Cafeteria Staff in the past year served approximately sixty teachers and 560 stu- dents a well-balanced lunch every day. They cooked for Artesia and Bellflower Student Bodies as well as Excelsicr's. The staff headed by Mrs. Viola' Redmayne truly helped the harmony of the school . Head Mrs . Redmayne ROW l: B. Burkhert, K. Hogan, H. Galbraith, M. Hoy. ROW 2: J. Davenport, M. Borden, E. Staples, L. Boyd, R. Gregory. The Flight Deck got off to a good start this year. They opened for their fourth year, under Mr. Robert Eissler's supervision. Last year they had an outstanding year of business, and this year it was even better. REST PERIOD--These teachers are grabbing a snack of coffee and donuts before settling clown to discuss business at the monthly faculty association meeting in the library. The faculty association has been under the leadership of Mr. George Curtis, Presi- dent and Mrs. June Nelson, Vice-President, Mrs. Arlene Root, Secretary, and Mr. Harold Hartien, Treasurer. The association is composed of the faculty and administrators of Excelsior High School and coordinates planning for the betterment of both in their relations with each other and the students. This year the ethics committee of the association voted to award a fifty dollar s ch o l a rsh i p to the outstanding student who was a member of Excelsior's Future Teachers of America.

Efficiency CUSTODIANS ROW I: J. Johnston, L. Alkire. ROW 2: B. Stanfield, Head, A. Stakeman, E. Cade, H. Blanchard, D. Hamner, O. Elam, W. Kempton, F. Dicker. The clang of a can and a helping hand could easily signify the word Custodian, The Custodians are a very important group here at Excelsior. These men go about helping both teachers and students. One of their many iobs was to keep our campus clean. Our custodians played a large part in helping Balance Out The Year for Excelsior High School. Buses were relied upon for transportation by more than 70 per cent of Excelsior's student body this past year. They were one of the most important facilities in school. Mr. Howard Steward headed this staff of i8 men who not only brought students to and from school but also they were called upon at various times to take different clubs and organizations to outside activities.
