SOPHOMORE COUNSELOR--Mr. Maurice Joyce, whose hobby is food, and plenty of it, spent his work- ing hours being active around Excelsior this year. He served as Sophomore counselor and worked with Lead- ership as well as trying to make Student Council a more effective and more vital part of student govern- ment. UNIOR SENIOR COUNSELOR Jliss Elizabeth Watkins as the Iunior-Senior counselor advis- id the students in the changing if their classes and helped with egistration. lt was her smile Ind friendly advice that helped :reate melodic relations amongst he students and faculty. FRESHMAN COUNSELOR--One of the very fine counselors at Excelsior was Mr. Ted Chenney. Last year was his first time as a counselor for the freshman class. He also taught American History. This year Mr. Chenney was acting as a full time counselor for first year students. ln addition he has been a Junior Class advisor for five out of his eight years here at Excelsior.

DIRECTOR OF ATTENDANCE--It isn't easy for a truant note to miss the attention of Mr. Richard James. His duty as Director of Attendance was to find those Iost chords and put them back on key, as well as keeping the absentee and student deten- tion lists. You can sum up the job he did in four notes. Dum-De-Dum-Dum. DIRECTOR OF GUIDANCE Si CURRICULUM--Mr. Alonzo Valentine, last year's counselor for the Soph- omore class, replaced Mr. Richardson Hastings, as Director of Guidance and Curriculum. Mr. Hast- ings is now Principal at Artesia High School. Mr. Valentine's iob consisted of planning the courses which suited the student and supplied his need. This and other of his important duties Icept ExceIsior's curriculum in a steady rhythm. ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT AND BUSINESS MANAGER-- Mr. Henry Korsmeir, ExceIsior's very capable assistant superin- tendent and business manager, has done an outstanding job again this past year. In serv- ing Excelsior for the last eight years , he has managed our school budgets, finances, accountings, purchasings, care of buildings and has helped our business af- fairs run smoothly.
