Sparked by president Jim Rex, the first semester student body cabinet upheld the highest standards of student government. Excelsior became very active in the California Association of Student Councils due to o great deal of after class work by the student body officers. Jim was capably assisted by vice-president Pat Collum, who also supervised the student court. Dot Decker efficiently carried out the dutes of secretary and offered many suggestions which the cabinet was able to put into effect. Other members ofthe group were Warren Davis, sgt.-at-arms, Lena Boersma, song leader, Willie Manriquez, yell leader, Jack Pace, treasurer, Larry Metzler, senior class president, Sterling Davis, junior class president, and Ray Hugli, sophomore class president. First semester cabinet members also instigated the program of noon movies which was enjoyed by the entire student body. A well co-ordi- nated group, they worked well under the leadership of Mr. Corley V. Porter, their director. Aided and abetted by a capable group of second semester officers, Earl Ludington carried forward the high standards of Excelsior's student government. The cabinet, com- posed of Earl, Marilyn Bowman, vice president, Donna Benson, secretary, Paul Dearth, sgt.-at-arms, Jack Pace, treasurer, Virginia Houghton, song leader, Don Rickey, yell leader, Larry Metzler, senior president, Sterling Davis, junior president, Ray l-lugli, soph- omore president, Buckley l-lardin, freshman president and Jim Rex, past president, actively participated in the California Association of Student Councils by attendance at several dis- trict conventions and the state convention at Santa Barbara. The group also arranged to have a meeting of the sixteenth district C.A,S.C. here, Work was also done on constitution revisions and changes in the service point system.
