Principal With the growth of Excelsior, came the neces- sity of creating a new ad- ministrative position, that of Principal. How appro- priate that Excelsior's first principal should be a Pilot alumnus, Richard Cahr! Through his work at Excel- sior first as teacher, then as head of the English de- partment, last year in the couselor's office, and now in his new position Mr. Cahr has fulfilled his job with determination and an idealism which is an exam- ple for all of us. Vice - Principal Acting as the director of curriculum and instruc- tion, Miss Bernice Rankin has efficiently held the office of Vice-Principal with a dignity and charm admired by everyone at Excelsior. Her ability at organization has been re- sponsible to a large degree for making Excelsior's edu- cational program progres- sive and functional.

Superintendent Ralph F. Burnight, our impresario, has proceeded to carry out his duties as Superintendent with un- tiring effort. His determination and enthusiastic attitude have made him an admired and understanding person who has the welfare of the com- munities, the administra- tion, the faculty and the students always in mind. Above all, he has upheld the standards of the school and projected the demo- cratic ideals which Excel- sior represents. Board of Trustees Working hard to benefit our school, the Board of Trustees sets the tempo for student activties. This group is composed of five representatives, one from each district, and al- though they are not often seen by the students, their industrious and sincere attitude is reflected in the success of our school. Girls' Vice-Principal Perhaps no one per- son has done more to influence and guide the girls of Excelsior High than Miss Lucile Tombs. It is her considerate leadership that causes girls to admire and respect her. With her ease of manner and the indus- trious way in which she goes about her numerous duties, it is Miss Tombs to whom the girls look as she sets the example for them. Boys' Vice- Principal Devoting a great deal of time to the stu- dent body government as well as the Boys' League, Mr. Donald Lund has worked steadily throughout the year to help and advise the students of Excelsior. It has been his aim to guide the students in working out a better student body government. Though Mr. Lund has been here only two years, his good nature and sense of humor have helped to make a place for him here.
