This year Mr. Richard Gahr has assumed the added duties of Acting Counselor, combining these new tasks with those already acquired as Director of Guidance. The programs, the educational plans, and the vocational plans of each student are carefully considered by Mr. Cahr. He is cognizant of the needs of every Excelsiorite and has been generous with his time. showing patience and knowledge in assisting students with their plans for the present and the future. RICHARD GAHR M ting Counselor Carrying out the complexities of the attendance laws of the state of California in a large school district are the major duties of Director of Attendance, Mr. Frank Little. Always a busy section of the campus before school are the windows of the main office, where, through the fine work of lVlr. Little and his staff, the attendance problems of Excelsioris absentees are considered with care. The Director of Attendance serves Excelsior as a link between the school, the parents. and the students. FRANK LITTLE Dner tor of Attendance No large educational institution can function without a sound financial foundation. The position of Business Manager, in the capable hands of lVlr. Henry Korsmeier, is one of responsibility. Through careful planning and execution of approved plans, Mr. Korsmeier sees that the necessary funds are available for the needs of each department, that the budget is carefully balanced, and that maintenance of old and construction of new buildings on the expanding campus of Excelsior are carried on with the greatest of efficiency for all concerned. Lund has made himself known to everyone on the campus through his fine work in directing activ- ities of the Boys' League and for his excellent organization of campus commit- tees over which he has supreme control. By his firm, yet good-naturcd. com- panionship. the Boys' Vice-Principal has upheld the standards of courtesy. fair-play. and fellowship among the boys of Excel- sior. His leadership and interest in the boys themselves have been clearly shown during the year 19-1-7-1948. GHRILS9 VIICIEQIPDRIINQIIPAIL Witli friendly. sympathetic understand- ing of the problems confronting teen- agers, Miss Lucile Tombs directs the girls of Excelsior in their social functions and assists in the solution of personal prob- lems. The activities of the Girls' League come directly under her helpful handg thus through her social awareness and training, the girls have learned co- operation and friendliness. The splendid results of the efforts of the Girls' Vice Principal as supervisor and adviser of student government speak for themselves and have made of Miss Tombs a friend of the entire student body.
