Elisabeth becomes worried that Mary has not yet arrived, so she goes into the streets to seek her cousin. Esther is left to watch over the baby, John, and during this time many strangers knock at the door. Joseph, whom Esther does not know, comes seeking shelter for himself and his wife. Esther offers them the lambing shed as shelter. She is also visited by the wise men, the shepherds, and some of her young friends. When Elisabeth returns and finds her cousin there in the lambing shed with the newborn Child, she and the others pay homage to the newborn King, laying their gifts at His feet.
