Sulperintendenfs Message The year of 1959 is one that will long be remembered because it is historic in that it marks the end of the Excelsior High School as such, through a merger with lake Park, Diamond Lake Township, and part of Westport Township. This will go into effect Iuly 1 under the name of lake Park Community School Dis- tr1ct, as voted on by the people concerned. A special tribute is given in this year's annual to all of those who have graduated from Excelsior School and are making their contri- bution to society in the different communities in which they live. No one can begin to sum up the total good that, because of the teachers who have worked so faithfully to guide, the . parents who have devoted their love and atten- tion, the citizens who have made it possible, and the graduates who have left their mark on society, has been accomplished as a result of the existence of the Excelsior Consolidated School. I am sure that all who have con- tributed are proud of having belonged in some way to such an educational movement as has been in progress at Excelsior. I am glad that I have been privileged to have a small part in the preparation and training of some of the many wonderful students who have graduated here. I am con- fident that the fruit of their experiences will bring inspiration and success to many lives throughout the years to come. It has been a pleasure for my family and me to serve with such splendid co-operation and support as have been given in this commu- nity. The attitude of the patrons and students alike has been a great inspiration to us and we are very grateful for it. Since the community of Excelsior faces a new experience in education for the fu- ture in their newly re-organized school district, I am sure they will keep uppermost in their thinking that which is best for their boys and girls. We, who serve education as a career, have a keen interest in every child, regardless of race, religion, or environ- ment. It is with a great love for all children that we dedicate our services to our com- munities, regardless of the center of the activity, and plan, guide, and direct such activities in and out of the classroom in such a way that we feel would be best for all children concerned. Our prayer is that we may help in our small way to create that which best serves those who face the problems of education in the future, and that we may continue to see fruit of their labors during the years to come.
