DONALD EUGENE WHITAKER DEDI CA TI ON In this book the familiar faces, exciting moments and events, memories of shared experiences and friendships of one year of school life are pictured. Only a short while ago, 1966, Donald Whitaker took part in such a year of school life. Now he and many other young Americans have laid down their lives to preserve our ideals of freedom and individual liberty. Is this willingness to stand for our country's traditions something that is learned as are names, faces, and dates? Or is something you can't find written on diplomas? Call it school spirit, patriotism, loyalty--it is the deepest feeling we can have. It is tied up with everyone of us, past and present, as human beings. It is the vision, the character, the dreams and pur- poses for a better America and a better world. The 1968 EWHISCO honors Donald and all the alumni of this and other schools who have made so great a sacrifice to uphold all that we hold dear. We affectionately dedicate this book to him and to them. 2
