Mr. Jerome VanGels, superintendent at Ewing, 1967-68, has helped get much needed equipment and supplies in the school. He was senior sponsor and attended both Senior Days at Columbia and at Kirks ville. Mr. VanGels came to Ewing from New- town, Missouri where he had been superin- tendent for eight years. His wife teaches home economics at Lewistown this year. Their daughter, Julie, is in the fifth grade. Mrs. Sharon Wallace has been book- keeper at the Ewing School for the past year and a half. She graduated from this high school in 1964. Floyd Chance, an alumnus of E.H.S. is secretary to Mr. VanGels. He previously served as secretary to the R-IV Board for eleven years. Mrs. Ball, who teaches shorthand , typ- ing, general business, and bookkeeping, has taught in Ewing High School for twenty- , five years. 2 For the past seven years Mrs. Ball has acted as principal of the high school, at various other times she has served in this capacity. She sponsored the Student Coun- cil and was co-sponsor of the junior class with Mr. Wilson, and is general trouble shooter for the school. 6

On these ladies rest the responsibility of preparing appetizing and nutrious meals for over 300 persons per day. The school bus, like the mail, must go through--rain, shine, snow, or what have you. The six experienced drivers shown here have proved their efficiency by getting their buses and passengers to school at the proper time and with very few delays. 6 MR. AND MRS. RALPH KING, CUSTODIAN S Maintaining the school plant, keeping it heated or cooled, getting rid of the moun- tains of waste paper, repairing equipment, and sweeping the acre or more of floor space, are only part of the duties of the School custodian. This year is the second that the Kings have done this Work at Ewing. They plan to be here again in 1968-69, doing their best to meet the demands of the job.
