The Girls' Athletic Association. under the direction ot Xlrs, Viola l'dy. meets every second and fourth Xlonday. The chili. composed of selected girls from each grade and athletic activity. promotes the popu- larity of girls' sports. lt sponsors hockey. basketball. and softliall honor teams which travel to play other schools. ,Xn an- nual aflair. the girls gym show. is sponsored hy the cluln as a way of making money. The officers this year include: Ginny Russo, presidentg Nlanreen Ryan. vice presidentg Sandy Lund. secretary: and Maryann Cray. treas- urer. OFFKHAL9 CLUB This club, composed of live girls under the direction of Mrs. Viola Udy, meets once a month to dis- cuss girls, sports. These girls are allowed to officiate in intramurals and gym classes where they get su- pervision and advice from the teacher in charge. Each girl is giv- en the chance to get her national rating in haslsetlball, and if she suc- ceeds, she can ofliciate for inter- scholastic meets. LEADER CORPS The Leader Corps is composed of all the officers of the girls' gym classes. During its meetings, on the first Monday of the month, discus- sions are held about problems which arise in the classes. The Leader Corps, in cooperation with Mrs. Vi- ola Edy and Xliss Kathleen Nails, decide how the gym classes will he conducted. The girls are presented awards if they are chosen as an outstanding leader of the month.

Tl1e girls were chosen for tl1e squad on the hasis of their ahility, neatness, and all-arou11d personality, This year, since tl1e squad was quite large. tl1e girls had to give up two games I. V. CHEERLEADERS Tl1e V. cheerleaders, like tl1e Varsity cheer- lc rders, helped to promote school spirit. These rrls, i11 addition to heing full of pep, were cre- rtrve and made up a few new cheers. There re six V. cheerleaders who were under the co-captainship of Pat Evanko and Delia Mc- Niullen. Under the leadership of co-captains Judy YVaters and Betty Ann Smith, llll' clreerleaders did a fine job of promotirrg school spirit. NIAIORETTES Performing at all football games was thc talented group of Ewing High Scl1ool Major ettes. Tl1ey did a11 excellent joh at every per formance, and their routines were greatly en joyed and appreciated hy all spectators. BASKETBALL AND HOCKEY Sporting new hockey and basketball uniforms, our seniors, juniors, and combined hockey and basketball teams had enjoyable seasons. Although our hockey team was limited to only a few inter- scholastic games, the basketball season was quite extensive. Hockey was under the direction of Miss Kathleen Naus, and basketball was supervised by Mrs. Viola Udy.
