The Choir appeared in the annual Clay County Festival in the Spencer gymnasium at the close of January with approximately fifty three members making the trip. Admittance to the various organizations are through try-outs and the willingness to work with good music. Indeed it is work, as well as fun. For the material is demanding and the schedule for academic work as well as music performances are full ones. But to those who love to sing it is infinitely rewarding. In April the choir along with the glee clubs, bands vocal and instrumental soloist present- ed their pre-contest concert in the high school gymnasium. lt was well received and showed promfse of brinqinq home some first places in the spring contest to be held at Aryshire for the small goups and Linn Grove for the large groups. We had eleven vocal soloists two instrumental so'oists a Boys' Quartet two Girls' Trios. a Girls' Sextette the Mixed Choir and both Boys' and Girls' Glee Clubs entered in these contests. From these groups the school and the town very often drew musical talent for their activi- ties when special music was appropriate. The entire group is to be congratulated on a suc- cessful year of performance and sound build- ing toward a significant musical future for Everly High.
