These classmates will be remem- bered by all of us through- out our lives. Gary Donald Mack Lett: Christine Tejkl 4 A Child Is Loaned I’ll lend you for a little time a child of mine,” He said. For you to love the while he lives, and mourn for when he's dead. It may be two or ten years or twenty-two or three. But will you. till I call him back, take care of him for me? He’ll bring his charms to gladden you, and should his stay be brief. You’ll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief. I can not promise he will stay, since all from earth return. But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn. I’ve looked this wide world over in my search for teachers true. And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes I have selected you. Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain. Nor hate me when I come to call to take him back again?” I fancied that I heard them say, Dear Lord, thy will be done-, For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we’ll run. We’ll shelter him with tenderness, we’ll love him while we may. And for the happiness we’ve known, forever grateful stay. But should the angels call for him much sooner than we’ve planned. We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.” 5 Edgar Guest SENIOR WILLS I Troy Peebles will to Mike DOC Schwind and Rich Whetsel my wrestling ability. Missing Doug Boger and Dean Boger The football season of 1980 was a step in the right direction for the Evergreen football program. Not only did they accomplish winning their first game, after not winning a single game the previous year, but the fact they were able to do it with a very young team, and also overcame some very key injuries. The coaching staff enjoyed working with the team very much and really appreciated the tremendous leadership by the small group of seniors we had. The low points of the season were the injuries for the season to Troy Peebles, loss of Greg Dowling. Charles Shininger, Vance Brown, Joe Creque and Bill Wynn for part of the season due to injuries. Also the loss to Delta by a score of 7-6. and not being able to hold the lead at Fostoria St. Wendelin and settling for a 22-22 tie. The high points were the winning season, victories over Swanton and Wauseon (the first ever), the fine play of a very young team and the bright outlook for next year. Also, a number of players named to the All-League team in the N.W.O.A.L. Gary Miller was named to the 1st team both offensively and defensively. Randy Raab, Joe O’Neil and Bill Wynn were named to the 2nd team all-league offensively, and Dave Bernath and Jeff Langenderfer named to the 2nd team all-league defensively. 56 FOOTBALL SENIORS Left: TROY PEEBLES 4 Year Letterman Tackle Right: CHARLES SHININGER 3 Year Letterman Guard SENIOR Left: ANDY BICK 2 Year Letterman Split End Right: GREG DOWLING 2 Year Letterman Right Back SUPER Left: JOE CREOUE 2 Year Letterman Tight End Right: VANCE BROWN I Year Letterman Quarterback STARS CO-CAPTAINS AND COACHES Co-Captains Andy Bick. The tides of time have seperated us. The hopes, dreams, and happiness are now a blessing of yesterday. You have given us something our hearts cannot forget. It may be two or ten years or twenty-two or three. But will you. till I call him back, take care of him for me? He”ll bring his charms to gladden you, and should his stay be brief. You’ll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief. I can not promise he will stay. since all from earth return. But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn. I've looked this wide world over in my search for teachers true. And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes I have selected you. Now will you give him all your love, not think the labor vain. Nor hate me when I come to call to take him back again? I fancied that I heard them say. Dear Lord, thy will be done; For all the joy Thy child shall bring. the risk of grief we’ll run. We’ll shelter him with tenderness, we’ll love him while we may. And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay. But should the angels call for him much sooner than we've planned. We'll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand. Edgar Guest IN LOVING MEMORY OF JOHN J.
