' STUDENTS CE THE YEAH ' ' N ,.. was . -.ss . v ia mr. Phucng Phung One remarkable Boy of the Year, Phuong Phung, was a great role model for the entire student body. Not only was he a high achiever in his school classes, but he was also very active in school clubs. He was a member of FBLA CFuture Business Leaders of Americal where he attended social fun- ctions, general meetings, and conferences. A very important part of his life was very important to the students here at Evergreen as well - his participation as a cheerleader. Yes, a male cheerleader. We were all proud of his remarkable ability to jump, flip, hop, and twirl while leading Evergreen in cheers and yells. He was also in P.A.W.S., helping with community services and improving Evergreen's campus. His effort in the classes he was enrolled in spoke for itself. He maintained a 3.95 grade point average and took such classes as Sociology, Honors Composition, Calculus, and Biology 3 Sr 4. His originality, determination, and willingness to work has proved to be suc- cessful, as everyone at Evergreen was proud of his achievements. Girl of the Year, Patty Cho, was a great inspiration to everyone at Evergreen High School. She was not only involved in many Patty Cho school activities but she had great academic scores as well. Patty was very involved in FBLA tFuture Business Leaders of Americal. She was the State Secretary, Chapter President, and the National Secretary, which kept her traveling all over the United States. She was in the French Club, Debate, Pep Club, and Honor Society just to name a few interests she had. She was also very interested in school events which occured throughout the year. She was the Master of Ceremonies for Homecoming and she helped to organize and bring Dan Clark to our school for a motivational assembly. Although she proved her skills through clubs and organizations, she did very well in school as well. Some of her classes included French 7 Sr 8, Honors English, Math Analogy and Trigonometry, and Physics. She remained in the Honors Program since she was a freshman, and still obtained a 3.86 grade point average. She was very special and encouraging to everyone. She was constantly improving herself and accomplishing her goals, this is why Patty Cho was chosen for Girl of the Year. Another person to be proud of was Moi l Moi Masaniai Masaniai. His energetic personality was a teacher's dream. His positive attitude was relfected on the students around him, causing people to strive for their goals, either large or small. Moi was very athletic throughout his years at EHS. His par- ticipation in football Cplaying offensive guard and defensive tacklel was a great ad- dition to our team spirit. He was also active in track, installing our team with the faith and pride of the Wolverines. Not only was Moi seen around Evergreen, but he was heard also. In the mornings, when all of our minds were just beginning to awaken, Moi brightened our day. Each Moming he would talk, sing, or yell his way through the announcements, describing the day's events and future hap- penings to the Evergreen students and staff. While active in sports, he continued to prove his motivation with school academics. He was enrolled in such classes as Chemistr'y, French 5 Sr 6, Pre-College Composition, and International Problems, and he maintained a 3.3 grade point average. Moi was a great choice for Boy of the Year. He showed that he could be involved in athletics, social clubs, and academics, and could still achieve his highest potential. by Sheila Smith SETTING TI-IE P ACE
