The goal for This year's Tennis Team was To geT more girls involved. Tennis, which is The only co-ed sporT offered aT Evergreen, is a very sTrenuous sport. They pracTiced everyday afTer school for 2Vz hours excepT on The days They had maTches. They played T3 regular season maT- ches. Each maTch consisTed of seven games. There was one boy's doubles, one girl's doubles, one mixed doubles, 2 boy's singles, and 2 girl's singles. Each game played consisTed of one poinT. The Team musT win A games in order To win The maTch. To deTermine who would play during each maTch, The Tennis Team used 'The ladder. This concepT conTained The of Tennis names of all The members of The Team. The Top five Team members on The boy's ladder and The Top five on The girl's ladder played on The varslTy Team. Over The weekend The Team had challenge maTches. In The challenge maTches, Team members from The boTTom or middle of The lad- der could challenge someone higher up on The ladder. Each of The challenge maTches consisTed of eighT or more games. The firsT person To win eighT games would reporT The scores To The coach, Doris Burdin. Ms. Burdin would Then adjusT The ladder accor- ding To The resulTs of The challenges.
