Q The more the merrier - Swatches and the liquidy 'Slotch' tell time lashionably. L I v Maureen Bailys daring hairstyle is on the cutting edge ot 4' . I IM individualism. N. . a s s ' W CD 3 . Tamara l3fll:iiis and her Generra lwomen' sweatshirt - stile!-4 thrilled to be ith it. - The 50's had the birth ot rock and roll and poodle skirts, the 60's had tlower children and sit-ins, and the 70's had disco and bell- bottom jeans. We have reached the second halt ot the 8O's, and the question arises: what will this decade be remembered tor? Better yet, what will the 86-87 school year be remembered tor? ln H986 we had such memorable characters as Max Headroom, everyones favorite computer-generated talk show host, the 'yup- pies', making the middle class more attluent by the minute, and the Mother Cl The 8O's, the woman who works tull-time, volunteers at lunior's grade school, keeps the house spotless and the kids well adjusted, and still tinds time to serve the Brie at room temperature. These generalized tigures will by remembered as well as the protes- tors or Howdy Doody were. This generation will be remembered tor it's tashion as well. The young people ot l986 dressed in clothes that expressed thier indi- vidual style. Generra, maker ot those trendy unisex outtits, and Esprit were labels seen predominately around campus, because usually those labels were worn on the outside ot the clothing. To inspire shoppers, major department stores installed T.V. sets that displayed videos ol music, or ot people wearing the items they sold. Levis in every color ot the rainbow brightened up Evergreen. Many students made a practice ot wearing the EHS school colors to pep assemblies. Qverall, the use ot bright colors and irregular designs made every outtit interesting and usually worth a second look. At EHS school spirit was restored, thanks to a great ettort by the ASB otticers to bring back the pride that everyone should teel in thier school. Club enrollment grew, as students were encouraged to be more involved. Positive thinking took hold ot the student body as a result ot tilms and speakers enlisted to motivate Wolveriries ot every age, including administrators and teachers. All ot these aspects ot lite are what will be remembered in the years to come tor El-IS students. The l986-87 school year was a time ot growth and change that encompassed a trend toward the posi- tive ideals ot the generation. by Shelby Murphy

Friends are very important in our lives. Would Evergreen High School be successful without friends? Friends are what brings Ever- green togetherg we take each other to functions, we do our home- work together, and we learn about life together. Friends at Ever- green are unique and interesting. There are shy and outgoing friends, tall and short friends, bizarre and l'normal friends, loud and guiet friends, and anyone in between. Because of years togeths er, students have grown closer and have made friendships that are everlasting. Everyone cherishes true friendships. Someone who we can share our feelings with, someone who will listen and understand, and someone who will take our good and bad. Cf course friends have their share of fun, passing notes during class, cheering together at sports events, attending dances in Hawiian shorts and wearing coconut oil, and laughing hysterically about something which no one else understands. Besides all the fun times, friendships have their serious moments also. We are allowed to veht our angers, we are always forgiven for mistakes we havevmade, and we complain about parentspschool, other friends, and the day in general. Although friends see just as many bad days as good in each other, they will still support and accept one another. Friendship is very special, and although all relationships have their differences, friends learn to overcome these troubles and have a stronger bond. We grow together, learn together, share together, and have fun together. That is what makes students who attend Evergreen High School so proud to be part of the spirit. by Sheila Smith Student Life 45
