Those are jusT a few examples of The efforfs puT on by The 4986-87 newspa- per sTaff. Working TogeTher was Their key To success, espe- cially around deadlines. Members are always willing To go beyond a due daTe and insure The besf 'Timber- lines' possible, said ediTor Jaimee Allred. They also worked TogeTher aT sTory conferences, where sTories for The nexT issue were dis- cussed. Members helped each oTher ouT by finding ideas for more arTicles. Everyone has had an ac- Tive parf in creafing The newspaper, wheTher in wriT- ing, phoTography, adverfis- ing, or layouTs. Each parT, liT- Tle or big, conTribuTed To The issues success wiTh The Wol- verine sTudenTs. There were some arTicles ThaT were seen in every is- sue. Like LeTTers To The Edi- Tor, where sTudenTs voiced Their opinions To The ediTor. STudenT Opinion, was where sTaff members voiced Their opinions on The laTesT happenings around school and around The world. Movie Scene, was The sTaff members' review of The laTesT movies. Rumi- naTing Rufus, was The edi- Tor's column, which was wriT- Ten To make people Think abouT whaT's being said. LasT buT noT leasT, Club Corner, leT The sTudenTs know whaT The clubs around campus were up To. The members of The sTaff were Jordan Paull, Jason Ed- wards, Shawn Janell, Lisa SmiTh, Kerman Perkins, Va- laria Lamb, Tamra Elkins, Jennifer Hale, Bill Corsak, BuTch Besecker, Doug John- sTon, Shelby lvlurphy, Tim McCrea, and Cliff PelTer. The phoTographers were Teena Shires, Gerry Budbill, Karma Jensen, and Kim Bes- low. The one who held The gang TogeTher was The edi- Tor, Jaimee Allred. And The man who held Jaimee To- geTher was advisor, Dr. Taeschner. When Jaimee was asked whaT The mosT special parTs abouT being ediTor were, she replied, When l receive leTTers To The ediTor, or see changes ThaT Take place aT Evergreen because of issues discussed in 'The Timber- lines,' Then I feel saTisfled abouT my job as ediTor. A greaT amounT of Time and efforT was puT inTo The 'Timberlines,' by inTerviews, brainsTorming, wriTing, Think- ing of sTories, and Those many hours of Typing. BuT The 'Timberlines' sTaff made iT Through wiTh flying colors. cholars Of Evergreen The NaTional Honor Soci- eTy was designed for sTu- denTs wiTh high academic sTandings. The Evergreen chapTer consisTed of sixTy general members, five offi- cers and an advisor. The re- auiremenTs for membership were 3.110 GPA and sopho- more sTanding. lTs goals for The year were parTicipaTing in The communiTy and fund- raising for scholarships. Some of The acTiviTies ThaT helped To accomplish These goals were The candy sale, GrandparenTs' NighT and Alumni RecepTion. AT The end of each year Evergreen's Honor SocieTy gave scholarships To gradu- aTing seniors. Money raised by The candy sale and oTher fundraisers was used for These scholarships. Grand- parenTs' NighT was held in lvlay where each member adopTed a grandparenT for The nighT. This was a special TreaT for Those who don'T have grandchildren. Re- freshmenTs and enTerTain- menT were available also. There was a special com- miTTee headed by lvlrs. STar- bird To selecT a boy and a girl of The monTh. Boys and girls of The monTh were se- lecTed based on Their mem- bership in Honor SocieTy, leadership aualiTies and rec- ommendaTion from The Teachers. All of These acTiviTies oc- curred due To The hard work and dedicaTion of The offi- cers and The members. When Award NighT came aT The end of The year, This hard work and dedicaTion was recognized Through pins and cerTificaTes. lvlem- bers paid special recogni- Tion To The officers for Their dedicaTion To The organiza- Tion. As Tamra Elkins, vice- presidenT of Honor SocieTy, commenTed, The members showed True aualiTies of be- ing leaders. by Eun Hui Lee 4 STeve STrand is buying an Honor SocieTy candy bar for TwenTy dollars?
