One of their finest performances of 'H ' the year was in the Christmas Program, enthusiastically K i' looked forward to hy all Everett High School students. if , - I f Y Another outstanding function was the Annual Spring A I Concert, which featured many soloists as well as the selections hy the entire orchestra, Pianist Bonnie Wallf gren was the featured soloist in the Second Concerto in G Minor. hy Charles C. SaintfSaens. The orchestra also played Blue Tango, one of the newest of the instrumental compositions to he adapted for orchestra: this featured Barhara Sherman and Lawrence Baird in their inf tcrpretation of the Tango. Another highlight of the orchestras musical offering was the Serenade for Flute and French Horn. This concert proved to he very successful. The orchestra also provided the musical hackground for the 1951 Hi'-Iinx. Although we may not realize it, the music plays an important part in such a production and the orchestra deserves much praise for its fine work. After twentyfone years. the Senior Class Play was revived at Everett High School and here again the orchestra was the musical mainstay. The Snohomish County Mtisie Festival was henefited hy an appearance hy the Everett High School Orchestra and presented a picture of how collahoration hetween the music departments enahled them to uphold the name they already have for their outstanding musical ahility. Another important event for which the crchestra provides the music is the Baccalaureate, which honors the graduatf ing class each June. The orchestra is a group that is kept husy all the year around. participating in assemhlies, concerts. and various festivals, and has contrihuted color and variety to the activities of Everett High School and of the community. Conf gratulations go to the entire group composing the orchestra and to Raymond Howell for their untiring efforts to make Everett High School a School of Championsu in the music department, as well as in athletic events. Band and Drill Unit Trophy presented hy E1'C7'CII'WdShl11gIO71'Q1lC17'fC'I'l7ClCliS for Outstanding Service In Siioliomish County This is the inscription engraved on the trophy presented to the Everett High School Band and the Seagal Drill Team. The hand, under the director' ship of Raymond Howell, Qinset, upper leftfhand cornerl. and his assistant Ridgely Bird, finset, upper rightfhand cornerl, provided colorful and enf tertaining halfftime drills throughout the entire foothall season, The hand has proven itself deserving of praise, not only for its halfftime entertainment, hut also for its participation in other current events at Everett High School. Proof of this were its fine musical offerings at the Christmas Program and the Annual Spring Concert. It again proved itself as a first' class marching hand hy its showing at the Weiigitcliee Apple Blossom Festival. lvlemhers of the hand are pictured at the right. Another group that is deserving of special recognition is the Pep Band. under the leadership of Bill Gall, a senior at EHS. This group, in spite of the fact that no husses were provided for the hand to travel to outfofftown games, ohtained its own transportation and was present at every foothall game. They also provided the music for all of the Seagulls' home haskethall games and for many of our pep assemhlies. This spirited group includes: john Howell, Larry Vklilson, Boh Erickson, Paul Henderson, Gary Erickson, Rodney Erickson, Don Swan. Carl Powers. Alvin Cripe. Clyde Stallings, Colleen Wileiix. lviary Kittleson, john Gilherts and Don Aycox.
