Taking an important part in the revival of the Hifjinx, they appeared in a mob scene on the ship's deck singing nautical novelties The Christmas spirit invaded the music department. and the choir appeared in the Messiah and in the annual Christmas pageant presented by the Everett schools. It was in the latter that they got to display their newly purchased robes which were made available from ticket sales to the Navy Band performance and from donations of civic organizations. This year the choir. in collaboration with the orchestra, put on an Easter concert. and again presented the annual allfcounty spring concert. Members of the choir who attended the Music Educators' bifannual conference in Missoula. Montana. are June Sebbas, Guy Hupe, Gloria Martell, Duane Romo. Verne Peddyf cord, Ronald Robinson and Carolyn Byrd. Miss Ringman accom' panied them on the long jaunt. The music department placed eight students in the annual Western Washington Solo contest at the University of Washing' ton this year. Superior ratings were won by Don Matyas, vocal solog Armond Monroe, drum, and Bill Kick, trombone. Noreen Potts, piano, and Arla Christopherson, clarinet, received good judgings, while Ellen Martinis rated fair June Kosbab sang a solo, One W'orld, at the conclave's evening concert. and Pat Treichler was pianist for the massed chorus.
