THE OLD HIGH Mafklng Zi NSW Epoch EDITORS NOTE Everett is distinctively a western cltl Growing at an alarming pace smce its birth twenty years ago it is not strange that the city s buzlders should have passed on in their feverish ambition leaving many tht cztu s best buildings until recently have been but temporary structures and rather out of place at this time for culture and refimement are now assuming a place of equal ranlg w th the steady and continued progress of the clty The city has had growing pains Om of the most sevcre of these has been the building in which for mne years the high school has been situated lt has been tht prlvilege of the present senior class to dedicate a new building the permanent home of Everetts high school The building for its purposes is one of the best in the Untted States and marlgs an important step in the city s dcvclopment It 15 having and will contznue to have an important effect on the present and future cltzzcns of Everett In this building high school students are receiving a refned and broad minded education that was utterly impossible in the old building It is having a practical beneficial eject on the city for lt is attracting horresee ers whereas it has been proven that the old building turned away many who contemplated settling here fhe following revised article appeared in the Koda February of this year but it has been deemed advisable to republish it in the Nest a The new era of which it is written is one of great importance to the Everett High School The very spirt of education enthroned in Everett has been given new life by this change On Fnday anuary 28 l9l0 the high school students assembled for the last time ln their old educational home Three bells the assembly signal sounded at IZ 45 and a ripple of expectancy coursed through the audltorlum as the unclerclassmen filed rn from the roll rooms For more than mne years I I 1 l things in the rough and with the tinge of pioneer days.
