Gildea in 1926 to promote a strong bond among those who wear the cherished E ' and to establish high ideals in the field of athletic competition. One of the largest and most admired high school sports clubs in New England, the E Club has 575 dues-paying members throughout the country. Membership is open to any athlete who has earned at least one letter in a varsity sport at Everett High School. Each year, the E Club sponsors a sports reunion dinner in November and a scholarship awards dinner in May. Special athletic awards, such as the Bouvier Jewelers Football Trophy, the Anthony Sarno Memorial Trophy, the Sam DeBosa Memorial Trophy, the Carl McKinnon Memorial Unsung Hero Award, and the Lenox Putnam Basketball Award, are presented to EHS athletes at these two popular dinners. Over the last 15 years, the E Club ' s proudest achievement has been the expansion of its Scholarship Foundation Club. Since the inception of this worthwhile project in 1973, the E Club has awarded $39,750 to 74 outstanding student-athletes at EHS. The recipients of the E Club ' s scholarship grants are honored as head table guests at the annual Scholarship and Awards Dinner in May. 147 Good-Bye, Everett High ' ' Do you know where this classroom is? of course, it ' s on the fifth floor Take a right when you reach the pool Then go through the purple doors We ' ve worked so hard to get here Now some must go through it once again of gaining the title of Seniors ' Just waiting to be Freshmen Still others leave confused With thoughts in twists in twirls No more teachers, no more homework It ' s our turn to face this world But we should not fear either And it ' s plain to see reasons why Our class has become one huge family As these four years have passed us by Some people have done many things While others have just had fun yet in our class of ' 88 We ' ll remember everyone: Tournament time in Field Hockey Soccer Players fighting for their grounds Running with the wind in Cross-Country Football winning by a touchdown Basketball, both boys and girls working up a sweat Hockey fighting constantly to get a shot on net Softball, Baseball, Tennis, Track And every team that wears an E knows the Crimson will fight back Until there is a victory Chorus singing together, A small band that plays so loud All Cheerleaders in sports or Competition That s what makes us proud All members in clubs, Powerful Class Leaders Newspaper and Yearbook Staffs making us good readers All students will be remembered Who participated four years or just a while Everyone was someone special in our class And could always make us smile Thanks to our all our teachers For filling us with pride And though we go our separate ways We will alwa s be a Crimson Tide So good luck to the class of ' 88 Our lives will sparkle like a jewel These past four vears have been realK ' great We ' ll miss you EVERETT HIGH SCHOOL!!! — Chrissy Lyons (I Love You M 149 150 I 1 CLASS HISTORY When the class of ' 88 left the Albert N. Parlin Junior High School, we had no idea what was in store . . . On the first day of school, September of ' 84, all of us crowded into the gym and listened to Mr. Leo ' s welcoming speech. When he was through, we were led into the halls scared to death we would be lost. Freshman year was a tough year but we all hung in despite all the jokes and teasing from upperclassmen. Sophomore year came and what a year it was! We were exposed to more and more of the high school scene filled with many triumphs and tragedies. That year our principal, Mr. McCauley, decided to call it quits and left us with no principal. Mr. Gibson, then Assistant Superintendent, filled in Mr. McCauley ' s place. In January of ' 86 the space shuttle Challenger exploded in one of our country ' s worst disasters. We will never forget watching that explosion over and over on TV and feeling the losses each time. Our class was also the first to have a semi-formal at Orsogna Plaza in Everett during our sophomore year. E.H.S. sports teams were the teams to beat that year. Boy ' s basketball and baseball both won the G.B.L. titles. Our basketball cheerleaders went to the Nationals in Florida, and the softball team won their G.B.L. title. We began our junior year at Everett High with a new principal, Mr. Edward Leo, and a new submaster, Mr. Thomas Gibson. We were saddened at the loss of one of our phys- ical education teachers, Mr. Marshall. The winter sports action was highlighted by yet another winning season for the boy ' s basketball team and the Crimson Tide hockey team played in the state tourney. 156 when the snow mehed, we began to look ahead to spring. Our field hockey team reached above and beyond to give their best shot at the state tournament. Everyone made their arrangements, got their gowns and tuxes, and on Friday, May 29th, we had our junior prom. Faithfully at Jimmie s Allenhurst in Danvers was a night we ' ll never forget. September ' 87 brought our Senior year — at last! The class of ' 88 was dealt a major injustice when we found out our homerooms were on the third floor instead of the first. We soon forgot that as we all started working hard on our college applications and Mr. Cecere ' s office was jammed every day. He helped us through it with encouragement and a few pointers here and there. (Bunker Hill!) All of our work was cut short when the teachers went on strike, but we were all glad to have the time off even though it only lasted two days. Dress-up day was a blast! We approached the holidays. Who will not forget the day Mr. Leo wished us Happy Anniversary over the loudspeaker instead of Happy Thanksgiving . Everett met Chelsea for the last time and came out on top. All our winter sports teams had a great season once again but most everyone had their minds on graduation. The senior prom, at Davenport Yacht Club, was a night full of memories. Graduation approached and for a while we thought we ' d never make it. Both excited and scared, we were anxious for our time at E. H. S. to finally end. We made great friends here. Together we had wonderful times and delightful romances (some better than others). E.H.S. is a part of our history now — the world adulthood awaits us — some for col- lege, some for jobs, some for marriage — but for all we hope happy and successful lives.
