The 1 985 Field Hockey season saw history being made as the Crimson Tide qualified for the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association State Tournament for the first time since its inception fourteen years ago. The Tide, which finished the season with an im- pressive record of eight wins, five losses, and one tie, was led by co-captains Pam Griffin and Janet Colameta both of whom earned Greater Boston League All-Star Honors. Head coach Lorraine Sachetta, who was chosen as the 1 985 G. B. L. Coach of the Year, attributed much of the Tide ' s success to a well- balanced attack. The Crimson Tide netted the ball forty times this season while allowing only sixteen goals in their fourteen game schedule. The offensive attack was paced by Pam Griffin, Janet Colameta and Maureen McDonald who were the team ' s leading scorers. Judy Leo and Jennifer D ' Agostino also contributed greatly to the Tide ' s scoring. Maureen Habeeb, Loree Griffin, Kelley Gillespie, Kim Rotondo, and Racheal Perry made up the stingy defense, while goalkeeper Michele Garron chalked up six shutouts for the Tide. Other members who contributed to the Crimson Tide ' s success were Pam McGee and juniors Renee ' Roberts and Donna Fleet. The Tide ' s season ended with a tough 2-0 loss in the State Tournament to a highly rated Melrose team.
