Blood, Sweat and Tears It was a tough and disappointing year for those who have been devotedly playing soccer for four years. The team ' s record for the season was 0-1 1-1 . But this is merely a record. In many games they played hard, they played well, and they played as a team but they did not win. Winning helps but it isn ' t everything. As members of this team, they should be proud. Soccer is a skill sport, though in addition to skills, one also needs coordination, physical endurance and aggressiveness. This year ' s team was a perfect exampleof a soccer team. They fought and played hard to the last second of every game. In the first game against Maiden, the team really showed what they were made of. It was a cold, night game at Maiden Stadium. EHS has already lost to them in a pre-season game but now the team was ready for them. By the end of the first quarter the score was 1 -0, Maiden ' s lead . In the second quarter, Flavio Leo scored on a break away assisted by Domenic DiMeo. It was now tied 1 -1 . Third quarter came and excellent defensive efforts by John Kozak, Dom DiMeo, Vinny Pacceca, and John Amoroso held them from scoring. The Maiden team scored again on a scramble in front of the net, but that didn ' t stop EHS. In the fourth quarter, Maiden thought they had the win, but in the closing minutes of the game, Flavio Leo scored once again on a corner kick crossed by Chris Lamontagne. Everett held on to the tie thanks to great supportive efforts by juniors John Greeley, and Arthur Durkin. In this game, there were many casuaiities suffered by Everett. Many of the players were hampered by injuries for the rest of the season which set them back. Records don ' t say everything about the team. Even though the EHS soccer team lost its games, it never lost its love for the game. Most of us, when we graduate, will still play whether it be in college or in another league. Top Row: Don Colini, Jim Stork, Chris Lamontagne, John Amoroso, Vinny Pacceca, Sean Casey, and Coach Henry Bejian. Bottom Row: Paul Fabrizio, Arthur Durkin, John Greeley, Flavio Leo, John Kozak, Tony Viglietti, and Domenic DiMeo.
