I Ml rrr- ■ ' J- - : — ' — r- 1 There always will be a big question mark when it comes to predicting the outcome of a football season. Coach Sarno was optimistic as he prepared his charges for the opening game. There was a nucleus of letter- men to be combined with a smattering of sophomore and junior candidates which could give us a fairly representative season. We opened against a Newton team that had down- ed us the previous year and we were out for revenge. Midway thru the first period, Parisi, a junior, on a bone crushing block by Brickley, romped for sixty- nine yards for our opening score. Erickson converted for two points. In the second stanza, Erickson tossed a perfect pass to Garofano for fifty-two yards and another touchdown. Garafano took charge of the two point conversion. In the third quarter, Parisi, Brickley, and Nuzzolo moved the ball on the ground until Nuzzy went in for his initial score. The conversion was missed. Newton scored a lone touchdown as the result of a blocked punt which put them on our one yard line. We quickly recovered this score when Erick- son popped a beauty into the arms of Wood and he sped into the end zone. This ended the scoring as we came out with a twenty-eight to six win. GianneUi, 126 Dumas, and Cintolo were great in the line. The services of Captain Kerrigan were missed as his leg injury kept him out of action. Our next outing was against Somerville and this too was to be a revenge game. This proved to be a real squeaker as we came from behind to win. The Highlanders opened with an easy score on an interception and a thirty-nine yard gallop. The point after gave them a seven to nothing lead. From here on our defense stood out as we held them to thirty-nine yards for tiie rest of the game. We scored our touchdown in the sec- ond period after Wood and Sorrentino combined to block a punt. Parisi and Nuzzolo then brouglit the ball in close and from here Brickley banged over for the score. We went for broke on the conversion and made good on an Erickson to Sorrentino pass for the winning two points. The second half was a stalemate as we battled back and forth. Stallworth scin- tillated in his defensive back field spot. The followmg week we gave our followers heart throbs again as we had to come from behind to eke out a win over Quincy. The Presidents caught Erickson in the end zone in the first period to take charge by two points. In the second period we struck twice on runs of seventy yards by Parisi and another seventy yard jaunt on an option play by Erickson. Both con- versions were missed. The third period was Quincy ' s turn to score and pull close to us on a touchdown pass. The fourth period found our Adversary taking over the lead as our de- fense broke down. With time running out we marched f o r eiglit yards and Garafano went in for a score to enable us to win by a twenty to sixteen score. Nuzzolo, Brickley, Davis, Garafano, Parisi, and Erickson all were great in their perform- ance behind Giannelli, Wood, Sorrentino, and Cintolo. We continued our winning ways against Revere as we rolled over them by a thirty to fourteen score. The first half was the ball game for us as we did all our scoring. Wood garnered two passes of fifty and thirty-five yards for two scores while Parisi aided the cause with a five yard burst and sixty-four yard sprint for another. Ray Brickley intercepted a pass and re- turned it for fifty-two yards to end our scoring for the day. We failed on every conversion. Against Powerhouse Medford, we finally ran out of steam. Our ground defense was in great shape but the Mustang went to the air and this licked us. We started the scoring with our backs alternating on great runs and Nuzzolo scored. Erickson converted on a run for two more points. In the second period the Blue and White took over on a run for two more points. In the second period the Blue and White took over on a field goal and a touchdown as we were frustrated in our scoring endeav- ors. In the second and third periods they bombed us for three more touchdowns and four conversion points to lead us by thirty-two to eight. This was not the end for the Big Red as Erickson passed to Wood for a score and then Erickson sprinted for another touchdown. This brought the score to thirty-two to twenty-two but time ran out and we lost a thriller. tffiiii S5 1 ' I -iwfasa - 127 Quincy North was another one of those hair raisers. First we took the lead, then we went behind, and finally caught up in the fourth period and went aliead to win it. The first period saw Erickson pass to Nuzzolo who scampered for fifty yards and the score and Parisi converted. Then North scored twice in the second period to lead us fourteen to eight. Ray Brickley led the way in the second half with some great blocks as Parisi tied up the score. Then in the final quarter Erickson tossed to Parisi for forty yards and another score with Sorrentino con- verting for two points as we came out on top by twenty-two to fourteen. Pound for pound, Davis was the greatest on the field of defense. Beverly was a newcomer on our schedule and we were not too certain as to what to expect. The Panthers from the North Shore scored first and converted for two points. Erickson then passed to Sorrentino for a score but we missed the conversion. The roof fell in on us in the second period as they rode rougli- shod over us for two more scores to take a twenty-four to six half time lead. The start of the second half saw them put another score up against us. Then we came to life as Eirckson passed to Sorrentino for a touchdown. Then Erickson came back on the next ball exchange and tossed to Parisi for another touchdown. Both conversions were missed. Then we were stopped in our tracks and Beverly scored again. This thirty- eight to eighteen loss dampened our spirits considerably. Maiden vs Everett battles have been great down thru the years with the unexpected a possibility. The Golden Tornadoe had no trouble stopping us at every turn. This was not our day as everything proved to be to our disadvantage. As the final whistle sounded we had been soundly thumped by a lop-sided score of thirty to nothing. Turkey Day and Chelsea! The embarrassment of last year ' s loss was still with us. This year it would be different. The weather was miserable! Rain and a field which was a quagmire. Chelsea started a march early in the game only to have Garo- fano intercept a pass and we proceeded to score. An Erickson to Wood pass was good to the ten yard line and Erickson ran it in from there. Later Everett again put on a sustained drive and Parisi scored. Both conversion attempts were missed. Chelsea had a determined drive going in the second period but gave up the ball on our fourteen yard line. We moved the ball but were forced to kick with only nineteen seconds left. A poor pass bounced around and Erickson scooped up the ball and set sail and scored again on a ninety yard dash. The Red Devils were out of the game by this time and the Big Red finished them off with one more score as Erickson ran it in for his third tolich- down in our thirty-two to nothing win. To those graduating seniors go our sincere wishes for success and happiness and our thanks for making our Saturdays so pleasant, win or lose. 128 Coach Pelosi had high hopes as he called out candidates for the Big Red hoop team. Under the leadership of All league choice and All New England choice Lee Johnson the season could be pretty fair with the little height we had. We did lack the experience of a veteran team. We opened the season against an unheralded and unsung Chelsea on December 15. The Red Devils proceeded to give us a lesson in ball handling, defensive play, and offensive shooting. We were cauglit flatfooted and could notuntrack ourselves all niglit. We dropped behind by a fifteen to fourteen score at the quarter and by thirty to twenty-seven at the half. Chelsea length- ened the lead to five points at the end of the third quarter. De- spite our fourth quarter rally we were forced to eat humble pie by a fifty-six to fifty-four count. Johnson showed a good eye with twenty points. We were determined to make up for this loss against our arch rival Somerville. We showed great strength as we forged to a three point lead at the end of the first quarter and spread this to a six point margin as we led thirty-four to twenty-eight at the half. We kept things pretty well in hand in the third peri- od even though our lead was cut to three points. We ran out of gas in the final period and nothing seemed to fall in the basket for us. Somerville came on in the last minute to nose us out by a sixty-seven to sixty-five score. This was a heartbreaker. Das- coli was high with twenty-one points while Johnson and Green had fourteen and thirteen each. We faced New Bedford just before Christmas and found that Santa Claus had forgotten all about us. This was the best team we were to face all season. We managed to hold our own for the first period but then the Whalers pulled away by ten points just before the half ended. We came back in great style in the third quarter and outscored them. Then we ran out of gas again. The final score was seventy- four to sixty-three as we fell by the wayside. Dascoli was high man again with twenty-five points while Johnson had twenty- two. After losing three in a row we managed to hit the comeback trail with a win over Quincy to bid farewell to the year 1967. We seemed to have this one from the start as we opened a two point first quarter lead to a thirty-three to twenty-three edge at the half. We kept our lead througli the third period and went on to down the Presidents by a sixty-seven to forty-eiglit score. Johnson dominated play all niglit as he dropped in twenty-eiglit points. We started off the New Year in a very gratifying manner as we garnered a win over Revere. We led at all times in the ball game by a narrow margin. The final period decided the game as we came out on top by a seventy to sixty-two score. Lee Johnson had a very hot hand as he scored thirty-three points to lead all scorers. We continued our winning ways against the Medford Mus- tangs. This game proved that we could put offensive and de- fensive abihty to our advantage. Our biggest first half lead of the year was in this game as the scoreboard showed us ahead forty-three to nineteen. Coach Pelosi was able to clear the bench in the second half as we dominated the game. The final score was seventy-nine to fifty-two. Johnson, Green, Washington, and Cogliano were all in double figures. Our game against the Maiden Tornadoes proved to be a nip and tuck affair right down to the wire. We lead at the half by three points and spread this to ten points at the end of the third quarter. We lost our touch in the final stanza and Maiden came on strong. We managed to hold on and emerge with victory in our grasp by a sixty-two to fifty-nine score. Johnson again led all scorers with Dascoli close behind. We finished the first half session against a good North Quincy team. We boomed into a first quarter lead of twenty-one to twelv e and this managed to be a life saver for us. North found the hoop in the second-quarter but we managed to hold on by two points as the half ended. The play was very close in the third quarter as we held on to the two point margin. The final quarter saw us increase our lead and as the final whistle blew we had come out on top by sixty-eiglit to sixty-five. Johnson had twenty-two points and Green eighteen. We were out for revenge against Chelsea after our early sea- son defeat. We grabbed an eight point lead in the first quarter but the Red Devils came back and narrowed this to one point as the half ended. The third period was all Crimson as we found our shooting eyes and proceeded to out shoot and outscore them in our eighty-two to sixty-one triumph. Again it was John- son with twenty-seven points and Dascoli with twenty-two. Somerville broke our victory string in a very close ball game. We matched each other basket for basket until just before the half ended when they managed to pull four points aliead. The second half was a repeat of the first except that we were uanble to make up the deficit of the four points and this proved to be the deciding factor as we bowed to sixty-two to fifty-eight for the final score. The first quarter against New Bedford appeared to be the making of a grand upset as we roared off to a seven point lead. We then lost our touch as the Whalers found theirs and pulled to a thirty-nine to thirty-eiglit point lead at the half. The third period was a ding-dong fight all the way as we wound up all even. The final canto proved our downfall as we fell apart and wound up on the short end of an eighty-eight to seventy-seven score. Johnson was all over the floor and dunked in thirty points. The team bounced back against the Presidents of Quincy. This was a come-from-behind ball game for the Maroon all the way. We were behind all the way for the first three periods when suddenly Johnson, Dascoli, and Green found their shooting eyes and we pulled it out of the fire in the closing minutes by an eiglity-four to seventy-nine margin. The Mustangs of Medford made a great game of it for the first half as we led them by a small two points. The third period proved to be their undoing as Johnson and Dascoli found the range and opened up a ten point spread. Once again victory was ours as the final whistle showed the Big Red on the long end of an eighty-three to seventy-four score. Johnson and Das- coli matched each other with twenty-two points. Our return match with Revere was a far cry from our first encounter. We quickly sped to the front with a first quarter five point lead and increased it to ten as the half ended. The third quarter proved to be another high scoring effort as we in- creased our lead to twenty points. Coach Pelosi emptied the bench but it was a complete disaster for the Beach City boys from here in. The squad just missed hitting the century mark as the whistle sounded. Final score, Everett ninety-nine. Revere seventy-two. Dascoli pumped in thirty-five points and Green had twenty-four. We managed to get off to a miserable start against Maiden and fell behind by eight points as the quarter ended. Suddenly our defense and offensive powers came to life and we not only cauglit up but forged ahead by a twenty-nine to twenty-four count as the half ended. We continued our great work in the second half and wound up on the long end of a seventy-five to fifty-eight score. Johnson, Dascoli, and Green all hit the double figure column. Perhaps the final game blues or complacency settled on us as we faced North Quincy. The Clam Diggers took over from the start and never let up. They led by seven points at the quarter and spread it to fourteen as the half ended. We felt that we would wake up in the second half but this was not to be so as they increased their lead to nineteen points. The final score proved to be the worst licking we took all year as we wrapped up our uniforms for the last time. North Quincy eighty-nine, Everett Seventy-one. Win or lose our team members thrilled us time and again. May your futures be briglit and may all your endeavors be in the win column. Coach James Mulloy smiled with anticipation as he greeted the veteran hockey squad and new prospects left him by Mr. Henry Schlegel who had retired as mentor of the club. It was to be hoped that the change in coaching personnel would not af- fect the expected performance of the team. The services of Captain Joe Sorrentino in goal were lost before the season got underway due to a basketball injury suffered outside school jurisdiction. This hurt. The league schedule was warmed up to with a series of scrim- mages with non-league teams and the squad derived a great deal of benefit from these practice sessions. We participated in two pre-season Jamborees and came out with victories over Charles- town by a four to two score and defeated Austin Prep by four to nothing. These victories, althougli bright, had their dark side too as Vautour was lost in goal for three weeks as the result of a head injury. We opened the league season against Don Bosco, resplendent in our new uniforms, and proceeded to live up to expectations. The team battled head to head for two periods stalemated at one goal each. Our goal was scored by Clancy on assists by Busby and Morganto. In the final stanza Feldhoff, on assists from Clark and Savage drilled home what proved to be the winning goal. Then everything went our way as Clancy took a pass from Morganto and Busby and rifted in goal number three. Busby came flying down the ice and garnered his first goal unassisted. Our fourth goal of the period gave Bob Clancy the hat trick as he took a pass from Brian Brickley and Ray Brickley and finished off the scoring for the evening. Our five to one victory was sweet music to our ears. The tables were turned in our game with Maiden. Despite goals by Busby unassisted and Glancy with the assist of Mor- ganto we were forced to bow in defeat by a four to two margin. Quincy was said to be the team to beat this year as tlie ex- perts picked this club to win the championship. We started off without the slightest fear of their reputation and Busby put us into a quick one to nothing lead on a pass from Glancy. This seemed to bother our adversaries and they proceeded to stop us at every turn from here on. In the meantime their offensive machine went to work and showed us why the experts were correct. Consistent play paid off for them and they emerged the victors by a four to one count. North Qunicy had a mediocre team and we did not seem to have too much trouble with them for the major part of the game. We took a lead of three to two on goals by Morganto, Glancy, and Feldhoff and assists by Garofano, Busby, and held this lead with twenty-five seconds to go, but suddenly they tied it up in a pileup in front of our goal. This was a heartbreaker. Our outing against Christopher Columbus was another test of our ability against a prospective champion. We fought to a standstill for the first period with neither team able to score. In the second period Ray Brickley put the Crimson on the score board with a brilliant solo goal. Columbus matched this but then we came back with another score by Morganto and the assists by Glancy and Feldhoff. This was the extent of our scoring but not so for them. They proceeded to garner three more goals and we were faced to accept a four to two loss. Revere was not the feared team of previous years as they lacked the veterans of the past. Of all the times for them to break out of their slump this was the niglit. They played their usual loose brand of hockey and we got off to a two goal first period lead on goals by Glancy and Feldhoff assisted by Mor- ganto, Feldhoff, and Glancy. Then the roof fell in on us and everything we did went wrong. They bombed our goal from every angle and when the smoke of battle had cleared we had not only failed to score again but saw seven of their goals staring us in the face. After this disaster we looked forward to facing Chelsea who had yet to win a game. We had sliglit shakeup in our lineup and perhaps this aided us in beating the Red Devils by a nine to nothing score. This was our first league shutout and helped restore some confidence. Glancy performed the hat trick again while other goals were scored by Busby with two, Mor- ganto, Garafano, Barbati, and Laliey. Assists were by Ray Brickley, Glancy, Morganto, Brian Brickley, Busby, Maddox, Feldhoff, and Flint. O ' Hearn performed great in the net while Savage and Graffeo showed hustle on defense. I Our second time around in league competition brought us face to face with Bosco again. This was a repetition of the first outing and we disposed of them by the same score as previously, five to nothing. This time Busby had the hat trick while Morganto and Glancy added one each. Assists were by Ray Brickley with four, Glancy with three, and Morganto with one. We came back to revenge our previous loss to Maiden and it was with deep satisfaction that we did just that to the tune of five to three. Bob Glancy had two goals whUe Busby, Ray Brickley, and Morganto had one each. Ray Brickley had two assists and Garafano, Feldhoff, Morganto, and Glancy one each. Our winning streak was broken as we ran up against Quincy. Again we managed to get off to a fast start on a fine shot by Morgantoonan assist by Busby. We played good hockey for the rest of the game but Lady Luck was against us. We did every- thing but win the game and were a disappointed group after our three to one loss. Woburn was our next opponent in a non-league game and Morganto proved to be the big gun in our offense as we scored a two to nothing shutout. Captain Joe Sorrentino had his initial start in this game and was outstanding in the goal until a bad cut on the leg put him back on the injured list again. Our second game against North Quincy was a vindication for the closing-second tie they came up with previously. We bombed them from the start and Morganto with two goals and Busby, Brian Brickley, Barbati, and Glancy each contributed one. Glancy had three assists, Ray Brickley two, Morganto two, and Clark and Lahey one each. The team could not stand prosperity and fell completely apart against Christopher Columbus the following week. Bob Glancy managed to score a lone goal with assists going to Mor- ganto and Busby. This was the extent of our scoring for the night as the Explorers belted us to the tune of nine to one in our worst show of the season. We bounced back against Revere and made amends for our previous loss to the Beach City Boys. This was a close one but we managed to hold on by the narrowest of margins and win it four to three. Goals were scored by Feldhoff, Lahey, Brian Brickley, and Busby. Assists went to Lahey, two; Feldhoff, two; R. Brickley, B. Brickley, Morganto, and Glancy. Hapless Chelsea was our final victim. Play was dominated by us all night long. Goals were scored by Ray Brickley, two; Glancy two; Maddox, Morganto, and Lahey. Assisting on the goals were B. Brickley, R. Brickley, Busby, and Glancy, two. The fitting climax was the goal of Joe Maddox who had been so frustrated in his previous attempts. Good luck to all you warriors of the hockey rink. May you skate to victory and success in all your charges down the frozen surface of life. jmES FAHEV RJCHARV GREEN TOM GAROFANO AUTHONV CARLUCCJ Gfa ass In 1 964, at Parlin Junior High, the Class of 68 was launched on its career in scholarship and leadership. Dur- ing our freshman year, we enjoyed many note worthy assemblies. How could we ever forget the performance of Barbara Smith in her recitation of The Raven. It was here where such names as Wood, Kerrigan, Giannelli, Nuzzolo, Brickley, Luongo, and Stallworth came to the front. The basketball team bounced into Boston Garden fresh from winning the League title and semi-final tournament under the guidance of Coach Edward Murray. Despite heroic efforts from Joe Green, Tony Dascoli, Junior Tiberi, John Hill, Al Fournier, and Co-Capts. Paul Wood and Lee Johnson, the team went down to defeat in the finals. We started the first hockey pro gram with Jim MuUoy as coach. Headed by Jack Morganto, Joe Sorrentino, Bob Glancy, Ray Brickley, and Tom Garofano, the team put together an impressive 19-6-1 record. Then came the time of the distribution of Parlin P ' s. To list all the recipients would be impossible, but it just goes to show our great achievement in scholarship and all around service to the school and community. Gradually the year came to an end, and we seemed very anxious to leave Parlin and journey one step beyond, across the way, into the wilderness of E. H. S. That friglitful day in September came too soon. We didn ' t have much time to enjoy our summer vacation with all the wondering and worrying of what was to come. But here we now stood as members of Everett High School. At first it was hard adapting to the many difficulties and new routines. The boys, I ' m sure, were especially sad when they no longer had to wear their neckties. Now they had to become accustommed to the casual dress of sweatshirts and dungarees. It was like freedom at last. No more cops to chase after us for crossing the street without permission. No more walking one behind the other, and free recess with a co-ed cafeteria, and no bar between us. We chose John HUl as our leader, with John Nuzzolo as Vice President, Dolores Palumbo as Secretary, and David Nelson as Treasurer. WUma Belinsky, Patricia Hogan, and Marie Kaminsky represented the class in the school council. It was hard at first, as we all expected, but with just a little time and effort, we were sure to succeed. As sophomores, we watched the football team come on strong for their third consecutive 9-0 season. Although most of us were not starters, we were preparing to take over their positions upon their graduation. 66 was the year where only a few of our players, Johnson, Tiberi, and Cogliano, won the opportunity to play varsity basketball. We found out the feeling of disappointment by being disqualified from the Tech Tourney by only one game. Coming up as sophomores, we aided coach Schleagel ' s sextet to its first winning season in hockey. We became members of Language clubs. Glee Club, Gilbert and Sullivan, and other groups we could participate in. Remember how Brenda Flynn won the Oratorical Contest. Also, Barbara Smith and Warren Lever with their many prize winning speeches. And what about Wilma Belinsky who led us along in Junior Achievement. Who said sophomores are silly. We were advancing, and no one was to put anything over on us. Before we knew it thougli tlie year had passed, and we now moved up one more step into the Junior Class. We enjoyed our summer vacation in the hot sun, but my gosh! before we realized, September rolled around again. This year it was our turn to watch those Httle sophomores come up with their weird expressions, wondering what to do and how to do it. They were going through what we had just completed. Again we chose John Hill as our president. Followed by John Nuzzolo, as Vice President, Charlene Frazier, as Secretary, and Warren Lever, as Treasurer. One more member was added to the school council. Now there were ; Wilma Belinsky, Donna DeCaro, Patricia Hogan, and Marie Kaminsky to represent us. I The football season came, and althougli our junior year was not as successful as we had hoped, signs of improve- ment began to show near the end of the season when our team started again with Bill Kerrigan, and the fine run- ning of Ray Brickley, TomGarofano, and John Nuzzolo. During our game against Somerville, the fans were able to witness some excitement when trouble raged over our mascot, a pig. It was the first and last night game ever to be held. In basketball, Lee, Jr. Tiberi, Cogliano, Green and Dascoli gained valuable experience as the team went through a rebuilding year. Lee was selected All-New England. Our Junior year proved all too rewarding. Win after win scarred only by three defeats, brought Everett High hockey team to its first state tournament in its nine year hockey history. Outstanding play by Ray Brickley, Bob Glancy, John Morganto, Larry Donnelly, Joe Maddox, Joe Sorrentino, and Ron Graffeo, led to the Crimson ' s success. Early in the spring the Junior Prom bug bit the class. Terry Gritti and her committee worked very hard to make it a date to remember, and sure enough it was just that. If the decorations sagged toward the end of the evening, no one noticed, for it was truly, All This . . . And Heaven Too. Mary Nee was chosen our Queen, and Frank Pokrant our King, but in each other ' s eyes every girl was a queen, and each boy a king. The year was finally coming to an end. We realized that we would soon be seniors when we watched Mr. Collins present Marshall Tokson with the Harvard Book Award. Once again summer came and went and most of us did not realize that this was probably our last possible sum- mer of freedom. We were older, more sophisticated, perhaps more serious but still a very happy crew as we took over the oars in this final row on the river of high school. The incoming sophomores did not excite us as much as they did a year ago. We saw in them their youth, their frailness, their immaturity, and their unsophistication. It ' s more like a seventh grade group in our eyes rather than tenth graders. My what a long way we had come since the day of pigtails and bobbysocks and white-starched shirts, when we had clung so desperately to our doting mothers ' hands. For the third consecutive year we chose John Hill as our President and Officers to serve with him were John Nuzzolo, Diane Gray, and Lee Johnson. Wilma Belinsky sat as chairman of the school council with the assistance of Donna De Caro, Frank Enfanto, Patricia Hogan, and John Luongo. Along came October and world series fever. Our Red Sox had won the pennant and brought the series to Boston. The second game was in town and the surrounding communities had let their schools out to see the game, but we were told to stay in school. Lunchtime came and an enormous crowd gathered in front of the school. They began chanting and yelling about the Red Sox, and refused to go back into school. Thus, we had the high school ' s first protest. It went on for a half hour, but the crowd finally returned to school after Mr. Collins used his guidance and persuasiveness to bring them to their senses. Football season came along again. This year our team looked promising after starting off with a 4-0 record. With the running and pass receiving of our boys, Garofano, Nuzzolo, Sorrentino, and Paul Wood the team strove for an undefeated season. The line anchored by Giannelli, Dumas, Cintolo, and defensive standouts Brickley, Russo, and Stallworth, was forced to play to its limit due to the loss of our Captain, Bill Kerrigan. Fall of 67 saw the beginning of a girls ' field hockey team at E. H. S. Glendale Park was the scene where the energetic eleven (the senior team), despite sub-freezing temperatures, mild concussions, bruises, and—, enjoyed their opportunity to participate i n a girls ' sport program. .Although we were unable to enter league competition this year, the team appeared ready to defeat any team in New England, according to the Coach, Miss MacAllister. The Basketball team started with a seasoned squad, consisting of Captain Lee Johnson, Joe Green, Robert Cog- liano. Junior Tiberi, and Tony Dascoli. After losing three early encounters the team won six consecutive games enroute to a winning season. Then came the elections for yearbook staff. Steve Giannelli was elected Editor-in-Chief, with Arlene Sullivan, Paul Rinelli and Marshall Tokson as Assistant Editors. In December a group of senior girls informally put together a basketball team to play against the WMEX Good Guys. The profits made at the exhibition game went to the March of Dimes. We fought the elements of snowy weather at 8 o ' clock in the morning during Christmas vacation to practice at the Rec. Center. The team proved unbeatable as we skunked the Good Guys 57-35. Highlights of the game were Karan Dannenberg, high scorer with 10 points, and Rita Cosby (?). Captain Joe Sorrentino missed more than half the season with an injury. The hockey team suffered an obvious set back. None the less, with seven striving seniors, the team had another winning season. We took college boards and studied and managed to survive. There was the strange feeling of restlessness. Some worried about getting into college, others worried about jobs, and there were a few who had no idea that they were going to do. In the meantime, at one of our school council dances, Karen Penny was chosen Football Queen, and at a later date Verna Petrilli was chosen our Yearbook Queen. The cheerleaders were very promising this year. Co-captains Charlene Frazier and Janice Rossetti kept their girls cheering and rooting for us. This year they are to gain fame as they enter a state wide championship contest in March. The first time in twenty-one years. A few more months. Here we stand now practically all grown up. It was hard to believe. Could this really be our class that was next to leave? Then came the big event. A night which will always be remembered, our Senior Prom. Terry Gritti and her committee prepared a wonderful evening of dining and dancing at Montvale Plaza. Spring vacation had come and gone. Now we realized it was no longer a dream. Our school years were coming to an end. We had our final day of fun when Class Day came along. Then that special day in June, Graduation Day. We glanced at one another wondering where the years had gone. Could this be true? We have lived together, studied together, laughed together, cried together, and now it was over. Now each was to go his way. Some to meet again and some not to be seen. But no matter where we go or what we do, this will always remain as - Memories. PARLIN MEMORIAL LIBRARr 3 1759 00099 7324
