Through the season the squad was not defeated, but tied twice. Under the able coaching of Charles Sweeney the team be- came co-champs of the Capital Circuit League. All through the season Everett had that power and punch which always goes with a winning team. Coach Sweeney sometimes mentions that there is just one letter between champs and chumps . This is very true, and our boys showed that they could be classified in the champ class. The last game of the year, the decisive game with Charlotte, was about as packed with thrills and excitement as anyone could ask. Charlotte and Everett battled back and forth with fury, but when the final gun went off Everett was out in front, 20-12. This game thus made it certain that the Everett Vikings were Co-Champs. 58 5 K W B za 'fa H f' mana , , was ig. 1 Scene of Many Battles Varsity Club Left to right, top milf: jnothan Ward, XValter Stewart, Don Draper, Alfred Lange, Bill Pettit, Eugene Bentley, Bill Royston, Ray Gaul, Gerald Giza. The Viking, reappeared this year after an absence of two years. and immediately met success with the student body, as well as with the faculty and general public. Six issues of six to eight pages each rolled from the press during these last two semesters and provided an accurate source of information of school events. The credit for this fine project goes to an ambitious staff of students who, with many and diversified talents, under the direction of Aurele Duroeher and john Adams. Advisors, created and printed the six editions. The student body owes to them a debt of gratitude, and we look forward eagerly to the Vikings of next year, and of the years to come. The club's main interest is in photography. We have taken pictures of activities about the school, and many students have learned developing and printing. Several have set up their own dark rooms at home. We have had considerable help from the Eastman Kodak Company, and have enjoyed several sets of slides from them. Also the club has become affiliated with the National Science Clubs of America and have received considerable assistance from the National Science Service. One of our big days was a trip to Michigan State College, where we spent some time in the Geology Department and the Museum. YVe finished the day with a picnic on the banks of the Red Cedar. Mr. Durocher undertook the direction of this project with the assistance of the administration and Mr. Strick- ler, who was to superintend the photography work. After the selection of an able staff, ideas and suggestions were studied at some length with the name THE ARCHIVES selected as the title of the annual. An enormous amount of work has been completed in writing up copy for each picture, compiling lists of names, soliciting sponsors, drawing the art work, and composing of the copy, dummy, and photography to be sent to the Welch Companyeof Chicago for final make-up of the finished annual. We believe we have set a precedent this year, and hope future classes at Everett may bene- fit by our experience in turning out their annual. We look forward with confidence to the future.
