THE WARRIOR Everett Area High School Dena Foor, Co-Editor Pomelo Mallow, Co-Editor Terri Williams, Artist CONTENT Dedication On behalf of the Class of 1985, the Warrior Staff is honored to dedicate the 1985 edition of the Warrior to Mrs. Brenda Ault. Mrs. Ault was born in Everett on October 19, 1957, the cuddly baby girl of Willard and Marian Giffin. A true Everett native, she grew up and graduated from Everett Area High School in 1975. She then attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received a Baccalaureate degree in business eductation. Returning to her alma mater, she started teaching at Everett in 1980. During the past years at Everett, she has been cheerleading advisor, and is now presently serving as secretary of the teachers association and class advisor for the juniors. Happily married to Robert C. Ault, she has one daughter, Andrea Lea who is two years old. Andrea is the light of her mommie's life and keeps both of her proud parents extremely busy. Andrea Leo This is a trying period for us . .. We ore trying to ovoid studying. Jen and Lourie has always worn rhe latest fashions but is this the newest in plastic? Who or What is it? 10 I’M HUNGRY During the long winter months when the windows ore frost-covered and the wind howling outside, many of the students experience a state of semi-hibernation. Strangely enough, these students ore only imitating their teachers and mentors. All around the school, Mother Nature works sedulously toward the perfect intricate column of ice. Anxiously awaiting spring, numerous bottles of Diet Pepsi ore busily preparing for the annual invasion of armies of onts. Meanwhile bock at the student store, somone has an intense case of the munchies. It looks os if they ate the whole thing! 13 Class Colors: Burgundy, Dusty Rose, and Silver Class Flower: Sonio Rose Class Motto: If you con imagine it, you con achieve it. It is not often that one gets w o chance to thank the people who were truly responsible for some of the most memorable times o person could ever experience. As Junior High Dosketboll Coach in the '60 s, I look bock on two gomes we ployed with Roosevelt Junior High in Altoona, which hod o 72-gome winning streak. The first game we ployed in Altoona — we lost by 20 points — which we thought wasn't bod until we found that we hod ployed their second team. The second gome we were winning ot half time, ond they hod to dress their first team. We still lost, but we proved that Everett could ploy with the big boys. Another port of Junior High I will always remember is our undefeated team ond also our 25-gome winning streak. I also hod the good fortune of this time to be on assistant varsity football coach on o team that won the Class D Western Conference — a great accomplishment for such o small school. In 1972 I was named Head Varsity Dosketboll Cooch, o position I held until 1977. During this time I hove o lot of great memories ond o few bod ones. I'll never forget one of the greatest comebacks I hove ever seen in high school sports. It was o gome with Williamsburg. We were behind by 23 points storting the fourth quarter, but we won. Unbelievable! Also, I will always remember that lost year when we finished with o fine 15 wins ond 7 losses season. But, then the bottom fell out. I was relieved of my coaching duties. This was o very bitter pill to swallow. It was os if someone ripped my heart out. I never thought that I would get o second chance to cooch of the only school I ever wonted to cooch of. but I got my chance again in 1980. In the years that followed, I found that the players hod changed o great deal, ond by my own admission, I hod o hard time coping with this attitude change. There were some fantastic moments. In particular, our two great wins over the ‘Dig Blue Cloud, Bedford. Winning two District V Titles also ranks high on my list of events that I will cherish. But the time has come when I hove to look of new horizons ond this has o lot to do with my decision to retire. I purposely left out names on my journey through memory lone because I am sure that I would forget some players, coaches, fans, faculty members, ond administrators. Rather than do that, I would like to soy from the bottom of my heart. . . THANKS to anyone ond everyone who hod anything to do with making those 19 years ones I will never forget.
