BIENVENIDA, COTY ne of my greatest desires always was to come to the United States to study English. I applied to and was accepted by the International Fellowship Organization, arriving November 9, 1978, to meet my new family, the Hurleys. My first impression of them was one of a similarity to my own family — very nice and warm. On the first day that I came to the high school, I found the people to be very nice and friendly. However, I noted many differences such as the changing of classes. In Mexico students remain in one room the entire day, and the teachers travel from room to room. Another difference is the length of the day. We attend school from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. We do not eat at school but have our main meal (supper) at 2 p.m. at home with our family. After living here six months, I like it very much. However, I do miss Mexico. I really appreciate everything that has been done for me. Perhaps someday someone from Everett may visit me in Mexico, and I will be able to extend to them the same kindnesses shown me. “Muchas gracias.” May we meet again.
