CHICO’S MEMORIES On that unforgettable August day in 1963, one hundred fifty-three bewildered and anxious fellow braves and squaws entered the huge Everett Area High School. The first year was spent making new friends, adjusting to different surroundings, and getting acquainted with ten different teachers. In eighth grade we became involved in school activities by joining activities such as Tri-Hi-Y, Science Club, F.F.A., Band, Junior High Chorus, and sports. We also discovered that upper classmen were really human. As Freshmen, we sponsored a skating party and studied very hard in our new self-elected curriculum. Our Sophomore year was a memorable one indeed. We held the Annual Sophomore Candle Sale, and in the spring we were given the opportunity to take a rewarding field trip to WJAC-TV in Johnstown. During this year we chose our class colors, flower, and motto. How can our class go wrong with a motto like No Man is Free Who is not Master of Himself ? During our Junior year many important events took place—Christmas sales, arrival of our class rings, a hoagie sale, and sponsoring the Junior-Senior Prom with the theme Love is Blue. The Senior year is our busiest as we try to keep up with school work, clubs, and sports. Our spare time has been spent trading pictures and name cards, selling magazines, putting on the class play, and working on the school paper and our yearbook. Eagerly we awaited the Prom, our trip to Washington, D. C., graduation activities, and the arrival of this book. As Seniors, our high school education is almost completed. Soon we'll be leaving the tepee of EAHS to become truck drivers, teachers, businessmen, barbers, nurses, etc., and maybe even Indian chiefs. Our only hope is that we have contributed something to our Alma Mater in return for something very precious she has given us—a chance to prove ourselves, to realize our capabilities, and to lay a foundation for the future. Thirteen
