QLaAA MiAiohy It is hard to believe that we were once small and frightened seventh graders. As we hurried to classes, we observed the upper classmen and, to the best of our ability, copied their every mood. In eighth grade we felt a little better. We finally outranked someone! However, we were still rather humble—there was a long way to go yet and many problems to overcome. Our first money-making project was a skating party in our freshman year. We were now fairly well adjusted to high school life and chose our courses of study for the next three years. In our sophomore year we were labeled Senior High. We had a successful candle sale and started making plans for graduation, which was really not far away. During our fifth year at Everett Southern High we enjoyed staging our Variety Show. We made the Christmas sales and received the long-awaited and much acclaimed class rings. We held an impressive Prom for the Seniors at the Bedford Elks Club Ballroom—the first time in the history of our school that this important highlight was not held on school premises. And now we are Seniors! We have been busy this year — selling magazines, ordering name cards and announcements, trading pictures, rehearsing for our class play, and getting admitted into colleges and other institutions of higher learning. We are dreaming of the Prom, our class trip, and Graduation Day. Many changes have taken place within ourselves and the school since we came here in 1961. Our newspaper, formerly The Parrot, was renamed The Chieftain this year. Our class will be the first to be graduated from the newly named Everett Area High School. All the friends we have made, the teachers we have heckled, the good times and the hard of the past six years have made too great an impression ever to be forgotten. All of these experiences have helped us to broaden our horizons. As we leave our Alma Mater, we resolve to hold fast to our motto. —Charlotte Calhoun Twenty Seven
