The “Ice Follies of 1957“ starring the team, Ina Diehl and Jack Sipes, will be held next week at “The Palace.” Lenora Ferrell and two friends, Geraldine Mellott and Grace Dibert, have returned from Paris, after completing their course in an art school there. Vaughn Foor, scientific farmer, with the help of his brother Dallas, and Lloyd Sollenbarger, has produced through many years of hard labor, a new kind of wheat that grows five feet high. They hope to perfect it even more. The first edition of “The Distinguished Visitor” written by Arlene McFarland, the rising novelist, will be published this month. Doris Twigg will make her debut next month. She has been seen quite frequently with the millionaire playboy, Duane Gochnour. Myron Steckman, world famous violinist, after a successful tour in the United States, will make his first appearance in London at a “Command Performance.” Dr. George Lehman left his hospital in care of his head nurse, Faye Bussard, and with his secretary, Vera Masciocchi, took a staff of nurses, Huldah Decker, Doris Redinger, Betty Rogers, and Betty Lou Foor to the South Pacific in order to help fight the malaria epidemic. Wanda Jay has just opened her beauty salon with assistants, Shirley Hoffman and Betty Clark, who are planning to buy a share in the business and enlarge the shop. Doris Avey and Velma Felton, partners in business, run close competition with their beauty salon on the same street. Our time machine now takes us to the airport, where a plane is warming up for a trip to Paris. The pilot of the plane is Howard Ruby, and the copilot is Sunshine Snyder. Acting as air-hostess is Phyllis Steckman. Aboard the plane is Violet Price, dress designer, who is going to Paris to sell some of her designs. Louella Pee is going along as her personal model. Also on the plane is Thelma Clingerman, a foreign correspondent, who is going to Paris to get details on a new weapon being developed by the world famous scientist, James Whisel and his assistant, Blair Swartzwelder. We now go to California’s seashore where we find Roy Bussard and his family enjoying their vacation in the “Land of Sunshine.” Roy is talking to Richard Mills, who is the life guard at the beach. Later that night, in a night club called “Lucky Dive,” we see Mary Shipley, the hat check girl, talking to Herbert Morral, who is now producing 1958 Buicks on a large scale. In the night club, going in and out of the tables selling cigarettes, cigars, and chewing gum, is the cutest little cigarette girl, La Rue Ross. Page twenty-one

o u R T I M E 1957 1947 As we turn our time machine ahead ten years, we see the class of ’47 as young men and women. First, we see Richard Sponsler and Vada Foor, who have just captured a notorious ring of gangsters with the help of Robert Bailey, who trailed along to get pictures for his paper “The Police Gazette.’’ They had very little proof of the guilt of these gangsters, but with the skill of a great lawyer, Charles Perrin, the group was found guilty and convicted. Chrissie Brockey, reporter on the “Daily Blah,” has written the latest news about some members of the class of ’47. It is as follows: Bobby “Suicide” Morral, owner of the “Hell Drivers,” suffered severe burns resulting from the daring act of driving his car through a hoop of flames. Ernest Young, a member of the “Hell Drivers”, will take Bobby’s place until he recovers. Donald Marshall, holder of the heavyweight title, will fight his opponent, Teddy Lewis, at Madison Square Garden next week. Joanne O’Neal with her famous horse “Tumbleweed” will appear in person at the “Capital” Theatre next week, along with a musical stage show, starring Dale Foor and his orchestra. Dale will introduce his new pianist, Betty McFarland. His vocalists are Eleanor Perrin, Phyllis Sponsler, and Joe King. Page twenty

At the bar we see a sailor, Guy Robinson, who has just returned from Europe; he is talking to Don Stayer, who is relaxing after a hard day’s work on the railroad. Sitting at one of the tables are Roderic Deike, Guy Calhoun, and Lloyd Price, who own a partnership in the trucking business. With them are Sara Jane Foor, and Doris Felton, who are their secretaries. Entering at the door are Gladys Morse, Dona Riley, and Susan Ritchey, who have gone to California for a month of relaxation from their jobs. Mrs. Clyde Clark, the former Mary Lou Howser, who is now living in California, is making a success of her married life. She is reading a letter from Mrs. Bernard Calhoun, the former Vance Gordon, who is now living in Ohio. In her letter Vance said that Robert Beck is in charge of the construction of her new home. In Hollywood, two stenographers for Warner Bros. Studios are Doris Whisel and Betty Reed. They are well acquainted with many of the stars. Betty Prieto is a hair dresser in the studios. She gives the stars their coiffures for their pictures. As we leave Hollywood, we go to the University of Pennsylvania. On the faculty there, we see three members of the class of ’47. They are Joie Le Van, who is teaching her favorite subject, biology; Martha Mae Dibert, who now has a band of her own, teaching music; and Dorothy Stanley, in addition to being Dean of the University, teaching mathematics. Doris Von Stein, part-time nurse, and Don England, coach at the University, have planned a double wedding with Sarah Hershbarger and her fiance. Wilmer Eichelberger, just out of the Air Corps, is flying around in a new plane he bought from Duane Foor, who is now producing all types of aircraft in his factories. Now that our time machine has told us all these nice things, we will turn it off for another year. Page twenty-two
