86 THE OWL LITERARY IN this edition of the Owl we hope to set a precedent by having the literary section consist entirely of 'orig- inal stories, plays, and poems written by the students of Reading Standard Evening High School. This serves a dual purpose. The talents of the stu- dents are thereby brought to light. Seeing their achieve- ments in print should be an 'incentive to greater efforts and even finer composition. Also, since the student com- poses his own material, the Owl becomes more truly a student publication. We hope that their accomplishments will not be re- ceived too critically but with appreciation and consider- ation. To all those who have submitted copies of short stories, plays, and poetry, we express our sincere thanks and hope they will Write more in the future.
