VH After five days of wallowing in physics, algebra, and other wonders ofthe universe, week- ends are an excellent time to get back to one of the funda- mentals of existence: eating. Most ETHS students Heat out at least once a week, some- times it's carry outs from Hecky's or Domino's, the fa- miliar food served at local han- gouts, or the more expensive cuisine of ethnic restaurants. Although the reaction of many people may be, 'Restaurants in Evanston? There are no restaurants in Ev- anstonl , connoisseurs of lo- cal eateries may say other- wise. One of the most frequently mentioned places is Yester- day's. Yesterdays is found tucked away on a quiet comer of Sherman Ave. The menu consists of all the sandwiches and hamburgers that can be found on any typical American menu, but everything sewed there is delicious. Much of Yesterday's popularity is due to its atmosphere. It's really cozy, said one student. It's a good place to go with a group of friends. Another popular restaurant was Fritz T hat's It on Chicago Ave. Sophomore Sharyn Tenn st H Eats said, A lot of food is served, and I always have some left over. There are really friendly waiters and waitresses. It's great to go on your birthday, because they sing to you! They serve meals you take your time with. Evanston's ethnic restau- rants were also raved about. The best ofthese seemed to be Dave's Italian Kitchen and Los Palmos. 'lDave's has the best Italian food, asserts David Rita, a senior. Marcia Brenner agrees. She likes Dave's not only for the food, but also because it has a relaxed at- mosphere. lt's dusky with small, cozy tables. There are also rugs suspended from the ceiling. Dave's may be the pos- sessor of the biggest singular meatballs known. Los Palmos is a Mexican res- taurant. llOf course the food is great, says junior Stacey Johnson, 'But, I also like the decorations. They are au- thentically Mexican in flavor - high backed wood chairs and all.
