Trends in Fashion, like perfume, is very different for different per- sonalities. What kind of fash- ion statement do you like to make? Depending on who you are, here is what your closet,-fi probably contained in 1986- 1987: Classic and conservative - Nothing too risque for you. You prefer expensive clothes i if 1 if Your closet might also contain and like to look nice, for heav-G en's sake! Essentials in your closet this year start with the turtleneck sweater. these are in solid colors, and everybody, simply everybody, has one. Looking dovm at that closet floor, you might see those broum Bass loafers in one cor- ner and your white Reeboks in another. Pattemed Benetton sweaters are in, as always, this year. And feminity has made a comeback in the form of long skirts and lots of lace. What's hot in accessories? BIG is the word. You'll find big, chunky necklaces, big belts, and big bows in that long hair ofyours. And, ooh la la, don't forget those scarves to wrap around your neck French-style! TOP - Alison Gibbs and her friend model the ever-popular college sweatshirt. RIGHT ' 111288 SfUdCl'lB l'8Dl'3Bnf. this years trend for the color black. 20 Fashion lndividualistic - You prefer being a bit different, yet there are still some fashion trends that you all have in common. Take leather jackets. Get them at Saks or get them at some obscure thrift store, but they- 're in your 1986 closet. Boots are also hot. Black and leath- er, combat or Mary Poppins an- kle-high, they're there as well. a stockpile of long underwear: pastel, white, flowered, and snowflaked. Don't forget leggings. remember, you wore them under big shirts and Dad's fat, old sweater. You might also find long, full skirts to layer over long underwear and under fat sweaters to get that Guess how much I weigh effect. General trends: Big, big, big. Big bags. Loop earrings are a must.
