The teachers call it extent of student participation in planning their educational experiences. The students themselves have voried views as to the cause, butall realize that there must be some reason why the core class is so diff- erent from any other. Among the main differences is the fact that the teacher is a member of the class, reports and in- struction are given by the students, who also help pick the units to be studied and govern the class.
