The Library Club, Three oT whose oTFicers, ElizabeTh Acree, Florence Crowell, and EsTher Paasch, are shown above, Tound iTselT kepT busy ThroughouT The winTer picking up aTTer ThoughTless pupils and'Taking care oT The many duTies oT The library. The newspaper sTaTT was busy earning All-American again: The magazine ediTors were occupied in room 260 wiTh The Task oT puTTing ouT six varied issues: members oT The Three year-book sTaTTs were secreTly going abouT Their business. Blue on Parade, a rhapsody in gym-suiTs, wound up The winTer acTiviTies on March 27. lvlyriads oT girls Took parT in This mammoTh display oT girls' aThleTics, and The Tennis, swimming, and oTher ouTdoor acTiviTies TransporTed our minds Trom The snow and sleeT oT winTer To The warm weaTher soon To come-we hoped. Thus ended-asTronomically-The long winTer oT our senior year.

Headlines such as This may help us To remember The winTer oT our senior year, Tor Tew oT us can TorgeT The day The TemperaTure Tell ThirTy degrees while we were in school, The sudden blossoming oT gaudily colored ski suiTs on a mulTiTude oT warmTh loving school-girls, The Tkozen and proTruding ears oT some oT our unTorTunaTe class- maTes. BuT sTrong reminders Too oT our evenTTul winTer will be The mulTiTude oT successTul highlighITs which broke The monoTony oT The home sTreTch. The winTer selason goT under way wiTh a bang-in TacT wiTh several-in The Drama Club play, 'Gun-Shy. Two packed houses were overwhelmed wiTh laughTer aT The hilarious anTics oT The lively Tamily headed by The big-game hunTer who was aTraid even oT The dark. I The arT oT Theldance replaced The arT oT drama as The annual TooTball dance rolled around. For This evenT The huskies oT The grid-iron Torsook TooTball cleaTs Tor paTenT-leaT,her shoes anol Tackling dummies Tor Teminine parTners. The TacT ThaT varsiTy squad members were admiTTed Tree, coupled wiTh The enTicemenTs oT good music and: clever decoraTions broughT ouT a good crowd Tor The lasT scrimmage oT The season. The I-larold 'lleen l-lop anol The Iv1.T.C. Ball were each puT on by a separaTe porTion oT The sTudenT body. BuT while The lvl.T.C. dance, held on February l l, was puT on solely Tor T'he paTronage oT corps members, The iournalism deparTmenT pre- senTed The l-lop Tor The enioymenT oT The enTire school. Senior Evening Tell--wiTh a crash-on February ll. The upper classmen Turned ouT in Tull Tbrce, and no more need be said. , The Marriage oT NanneTTe was solemnized on lvlarch 6 and 7, and l-laven School was Twice packed wiTh audiences which were reminded oT PinaTore and Penzance. DeserTiing GilberT and Sullivan Tor a pair oT American wriTers, The music deparTmenT pre'sdn'Teol a noTher TuneTul and enjoyable specTacle in iTs own grand sTyle. I While The dniTTs oT snow lay deep over The school grounds and The winTry winds made iT impossible To use The ouTdoor aThleTic TaciliTies, sTudenTs were using The indoor eguiprrlenT To pass The Time oT day noT occupied by sTudying. The boys were playing baslkeTball in The inTramural league, pracTicing running, iumping, and Throwing Thinlgs in The armory, swimming aT The Y, wresTling in The padded cell souTh oT The gym. The girls werle playing volleyball and baskeTball, working in The archery work- shop, playing olTI Their Table Tennis TournamenT, swimming aT The NorThwesTern School oT Physicall EducaTion. I I I

Swish . The VarsiTy baskefball Team, coached by Rocky Hampfon, ended The I935-I936 season in undispuTed Third place, winning Three of iTs firsf six and four of iTs lasT six games. Capfain RoberT WhiTe, cenTer, Virgil Van Cleave, John Kluge, and Louis Beach aT The forward posifions and Lloyd JeweTT and Charles WorThingTon as guards played The enTire season and were rarely aided by subsTiTuTes. During The firsT semesfer This Team losT To Oak Park, conquered in succession Waukegan, Deerfield, and New Trier, and losf a Thrilling baTTle To lvlorTon by one poinT in The ouTsTanding game of The season. Evansfon, losing TwenTy To nine aT The sTarT of The Third period, puT on a specfacular second-half drive To go inTo The lead, Twenfy-five To TwenTy-four, in The closing minuTes of play, and Then losT The one-poinT advanTage and game on a lvlorfon baskeT scored seconds before The sound of The gun. In The second semesfer The Team again defeafed, New Trier, Deerfield, and Waukegan, and Turned The Tables by conquering lv1orTon7 buT losT To Oak Park and Twice To Proviso lfhe evenfual winners of The championshipl. AfTer The regular season, The VarsiTy squad played hosT To Two Teams of refurning alumni. Played for The enioymenT of a large crowd of boys and Their dads, ouT for The firsf Boys' NighT, The game ended wiTh The VarsiTy five poinTs behind The grads.
