1980 We, the 1979-80, Annual Staff are very proud to present this year’s annual to a man who put forth 30 years of hard work for Evans. He put in much overtime for his FFA boys and we’ll always remember his “barbecue sauce. He is a graduate of Hornbeck High School and he attended LSU where he received his B.S. in 1948, his Masters in 1946, and his Masters Plus 30 hours in 1968. His dedication to Evans High School has been exemplified by the establishment of the W. F. Dowden Scholarship Fund. It is with much pleasure that we dedicate this annual to Mr. W. F. Dowden. 6

Superintendent’s Message It is with great pleasure that I commend the 1979-80 yearbook staff for their efforts in producing this excellent record of the past school year. Theirs has been a unique task: that of viewing objectively the school's activities while at the same time participating in them. These young people and their faculty advisers have combined creative ability and a great degree of dedication in accomplishing the goals they set months ago. For their special efforts we are grateful, because in years to come the 1979-80 yearbook will only increase in its value to us. Like the yearbook staff, our faculty, staff and students throughout the parish have worked diligently to achieve their goals also. Significant progress is evident in our school system as we review past months, and I am pleased that we have met our challenges well. Our nation’s homes and schools are greatly responsible for America’s position of world leadership. As we enter a new decade, the 1980's, let us take stock of our country's goals and prepare ourselves for even higher levels of proficiency and productivity. I wish for each of you much success.
