W. A, K. on her letters and I love you under the postage stamp. A y A little brother who plays pop-guns and wants to be a cowboy. g Or a sister who graduates from High School this year, ' All of these and many more constitute the ones who indeed are the home and those that keep home, often just a memory, a reality. They are our inspiration, our will to go on, our guides through depression. But even more, they are the way of life we are fighting to maintain. They are the smiles, the patience, the hope, the hugs, the outstretched arms and the tears of hap- piness that await our return. But most of all, they are the Pursuit of Hap- piness that we so humbly dedicate our lives, our dreams, our liberty and this 1966 cruise book to. L, McHenry RD3 JW,.,. y f, Up. m.,. This evolution in- volves both mental and physical work. The physical consists of bringing the ship to above her high level of cleanliness and appearance and readiness in 'order to present a most favorable impression. The mental consists of adjusting to the new way of life that comes after the evolution. I This evolution of course, is called CHANGE OF COMMAND. Only 110 miles from the grave of her name- sake, Commander Earnest Edwin Evans, EVANS underwent this change mid-way through her sixth Westpac Cruise on 11 April 1966 in Cebu City Cebu Island, Philippines. omman ing icer fella W5 mf, LCDR Richard F., DONNELLY re- ceived his commission in the U. Leadership PETTY OFFICERS! Perhaps you haven't noticed, ygu are being watched! Set a good example, don't throw forks on the mess decks, these nasty habits will only be copied by your subordinates. and we really haven't enough forks! 2.UNIFOHM OF THE DAY It has been noticed that several discrepancies exist in the uniform being worn. This is to promulgate a standard uniform and all hands are encouraged to take heed. The working uniform is dungarees with skivie shirts, not necessarily dungaree shirts unless notice is recieved, in any case, skivie shirts must be worn. Dungaree shirts may be worn if skivie shirts are revoked as the .working uniform. Shoes at all times, Klogs in the showers only but then you're not working and the rule for skivie shirts does not apply. White hats when Ordered and whenever in doubt, wear a white hat. Ball caps will he worn when at sea and white hats are in the laundry, Gloves should not be worn unless on the watch in Alaska, but then again, you won't be working and the rule for shower klogs won't apply. I expect to see this strictly adhered to! 3. REVILLE My apologies for the early reville, in retribution, Taps will be held 30 minutes earlier this evening. A. QFFICEES CILL Where were you gentlemen this morning? I FG8liZe that we had 8 party last night but remember your responsibilities. It's pretty bad when I have to stand there and give orders to the yeoman and no-one else. 5.
