Mr Anderson Sen1or Class We started on our road to knowledge 1n 1939 when twenty two anx1ous br1ght eyed chlldren enrolled 1n f1rst grade It was 1n th1s year we proved our ab1l1ty as mus1c1ans when we produced a rhythm band In the course of our h1sto1y we won a pr1ze f1rst DFIZG no less be1ng dressed as doctors and nurses 1n a Halloween Parade Much to our great sorrow a great tragedy oc curred the school burned In order to cont1nue our educatlon we had half day classes 1n the flre were able to f1t us xnto the hlgh school T1me marches on and so d1d we by now we were 1n Jun1or H1gh School We had the new ex DQPIEHCES of changmg classes gym home mak1ng and shop As the cllmax of e1ghth grade we studled and worr1ed for weeks 1n order to pass the county exams to become worthy freshmen The out come of th1S test made us full fledged honored freshmen after weeks of dodglng and h1d1ng from those 1n1t1at1on happy sen1ors The enrollment of our class was forty three fMy how we re growmgll Th1S year proved to be a b1g year for us as we put on a Hallowe en Dance and a Sweater Hop w1th much success On to Sen1or H1gh School' Now as sopho mores we spent many ch1lly n1ghts selhng refresh ments at the football games One of the h1gh l1ghts of th1s year was sell1ng magaz1nes for wh1ch we rece1ved a rad1o for sell1ng S563 00 worth It was a year of exc1tement and fun as we put on the class play t1tled Oh' Brother' As a clxmax of th1S year we sponsored the Sophomore Sen1or Banquet for the mlghty sen1ors As we rapldly advanced near our goal we had an eventful Jumor year One of the b1ggs-st events was the order1ng of the class r1ngs They were of a new style Croundb and everyone was very much pleased Wlth h1s Th1S year our class started a new trad1t1on 1n Evans C1ty H1gh School the Your Annual It IS not merely a book of p1ctures It IS not Just busy work to keep a few students amused It IS not an 1nvent1on of photographers engravers pr1nters and book bmders for the benef1t of the1r own self1sh 1nterests It IS a memor1al to the class sponsor1ng the proJect but 1t IS more than a memor1al It 1S more than a book of memor1es An annual IS a l1v 1ng storehouse of all the 1nc1dents that have oc curred 1n a year of the l1ves of all the persons asso c1ated w1th the book It IS a composlte of all the 1deas 1deals credos phl1OS0phleS preferances pre3 Jdlces tastes fears superst1t1ons perplex1t1es hab1ts Joys sorrows 1ntu1t1ons personal1t1es m1s haps adventures romance fOlb16S sk1lls knowl edge manners 1d1ocyncrac1es fash1ons fads In br1ef It IS creat1ve express1on attemptmg to por tray llfe 1n school E L Anderson I-Ilstor Sad1e Hawkxns dance 1n wh1ch all students dressed as Da1sy Mae and L11 Abner We danced to the mus1c of Tommy Stuck and h1s or chestra Followlng trad1t1on the class of 1952 put on the Valentme dance w1th the mus1c of the Cabarettes At th1S dance the school Sweetheart Lena Noto was crowned Another of our dutles th1s year was the ed1t1ng of the school newspaper The News Reel Then 1n the summer of 1951 a great tragedy occured Our good fr1end and classmate J1m Connoquenessmg Creek F1nally we reached our long awalted destrna t1on sen1ors Our f1rst pr1v1lege was to lnltlate the freshmen Th1S was qu1te a Job for us as there were erghty f1ve freshmen to our th1rty n1ne sen 1ors In November our class sponsored the Sad1e Hawkms dance WhlCh was a huge success w1th the boys as the g1rls footed the b1lls and asked the boys for the dances Before Chrxstmas we or dered our name cards and class p1ctures wh1ch underclassmen begged from us unt1l our supphes were exhausted The p1ctures were taken by Mr Russell Bennett who d1d a f1ne Job and Satlsfled everyone In December our class put on the play Our MISS Brooks dlrected by Mr Cashdollar and Mrs Trxpp Our play was a huge success and proved the actmg ab1l1ty of our classmates Our Sen1or prom was also a success as we danced to the mus1c of Artle Demor and hlS orchestra We never real1zed how near we were to the end and Just how much we shall mlss good old h1gh school unt1l we take our f1nal step out of th1s school wlth our d1plomas Havmg completed twelve wonderful years of school each hav1ng been dlfferent and fxlled w1th new excltement we now take on an even greater task as we set out to carry on the ways of llfe that have been carefully guard ed by those who have gone before us The class of 1952 IS on to the future' PAGE THIRTEEN ' H . !! . . . , , Y - , . .
