Barbara Boyer Mr Kimber Annabelle Fuller Newton Fuller Madge Fuller Steve Eldridge Mrs Douglas Clayton Evans Rena Leslie On January 18 1951 the Senior Class of Evans City presented George Washington Slept Here 1 comedy 1n three acts The cast included William Reno Jean Anderson Harry Goehring Barbara Boyer Barry Spencer Janet Parsons Betty Lmtz Lee Kummer Jane Moyer Hester Raymond Uncle Stanley Sue Barrington Miss Wilcox Leggett Frasier Mr Prescott Edna Mae Beahm Donald Green Jack Crider Lois McCandless Esther Nulph James Larkin John Irvine Our Senior Play George Washington Slept Here will never be forgotten by those who partie ipated in it This three act play portrayed the l1fe of a city man who wished to escape to the fresh country air and who had a special weakness to ward famous old houses Finally purchasmg a house of this description he made an unusual dis covery that George Washington had slept there The house a complete mess at first was re stored to a livable condition under the capable guidance of the caretaker All ran smoothly for some time when suddenly it was discovered that the road into the house was owned by a country gentleman who lived nearby and that to enter the house one must now cross the fields. To add another headache to the cause rich old Uncle Stanley was coming for a visit. This in it- self was a calamity. Raymond did little to help the cause either. About this time they receive information stating that George Washington never slept in the house at all but that it was Benedict Arnold. Depending on rich Uncle Stanley to meet the payment on the house proved another fatal mis- take. It seemed that Uncle Stanley was broke and had been since the stock market crash too. that in the original deed the road did belong to the old house Not only that but Uncle Stanley came back put on a great act of pretending to pay the debt It was however more convenient for the country gentlemen who was to collect to be a little more lenient in his ways After the payment had been postponed to a more convenient date Uncle Stanley was congratulated for his pretense and all ended happily for the household We are sure that this play was successful due to the great job of directing done by Mr. Milton E. Carless. Although it was a terrific task to get all the cast members to practice it was indeed worth the effort. After going over special parts and having pic- tures taken the Play Cast enjoyed a party the night before the play at the high school. A special cake was bought to celebrate the event and everyone had a wonderful time. We wish to thank all those who helped us make this play a great success. We wish to thank the boys who put up the scenery and managed the With the foreclosure drawing near Uncle Stanley left. A miracle began to present itself. It was found backstage props. We wish to thank the prompters' those who made and sold tickets and programs' those who furinshed the entertainment' fixed the lights for us' and anyone else who we may have forgotten.
