THE CHUSADEHS UNDER THE COACHING of the former All-American, Forest Arnold, the Evangel Cru- saders for the second straight year had a winning season against college competition. Coach Arnold had only four players returning from last year's squad: Bob Ashcroft, Joe Anderson, Gary Dickinson, and Don Youngs. Arnold's first year of coaching was a great success with l0 wins and four losses. Spirit, stamina, and sportsmanship were the greatest asset of the Crusaders squad. Even when there was a height disadvantage the players would never stop fighting. Against such large schools as Pittsburgh State, and Southwest Missouri State where they played the Junior Varsities against great odds, the Crusaders would not admit defeat until the last whistle was blown. They also showed that they will be a tough team' in the future by beating Drury J.V., a school which is considered a topnotch basketball school. The team could find no better coach than Forest Arnold. He seta scoring record at Memphis State by scoring over 2000 points. Memphis State voted him the most valuable player in the history of the school. He was listed in Who's Who among Students in American Colleges and Universities. A Coach Arnold stated that this year's team was a good solid team, and that next year's team will be even better. Forest Arnold not only gave the team unity and spirit, but gained the respect and confidence of each player.
