MRS. MARY CANTER Mrs. Mary Canfer, one of our well known healfh educafion feachers, is a graduafe of Girls High School, Hunfer College, and Columbia Universify. She maiored in physical educafion and chemisfry. Her afhlefic achievemenfs are many. Among fhem are: baskefball, hockey, handball, golf, and fhe cify fencing fifle. A residenf of Wesfchesfer Counfy, she is married fo a docfor and has fwo children, a boy and a girl. Her hobbies are one: golf. MR. CHEITMAN Mr. Cheifman has faughf Spanish af Evander Childs since I9I8. He was graduafed from C.C.N.Y., affended Fordham Uni- versify, N.Y.U., and fhe Universify of Madrid. Among his many inferesfs, Mr. Cheifman parficularly enioys opera and fishing. Mr. Cheifman exfends his very besf wishes fo all fhe graduafes. MR. BERT FUND Mr. Berf Fund, who conducfs Evander's Band and Orchesfra af fhe various concerfs, assemblies, and fesfivals of fhe school year, received his Bachelor of Social Science degree af Cify College and his M.A. in Music Educafion af Columbia. His hobbies are golf, chess, and bridge. He also enioys going fo concerfs. He doesn'f fhink sfudenfs have changed much since he firsf came here eighfeen years ago, excepf fhaf he feels fhey don'1' sfudy as hard. However, he readily admifs fhaf in fhis, as in every- fhing else, fhere are quife a few excepfions fo fhe rule. MRS. MIRIAM JACOBS Mrs. Jacobs, one of our mafhemafics feachers af Evander, received her B.A. af Hunfer and fook graduafe work af Columbia. She is married and fhe mofher of fwo daughfers. SENIOR CLASS TEACHERS MR. AMSTER Mr. Amsler allended lhe High School ol Commerce, and lhen New York Universily, where he received his B.S. in accounling. Because ol economic condilions he decided lo leach, and loolc his A.M. in educalion. He is also a C.P.A. Good music and pho- lography are his lavorile paslimes. He has lwo children, a boy and a girl. His daughler is a sludenl al Evander and is also gradualing wilh lhe Class ol '57. MRS. BARNETT Mrs. Barnell, our Conlemporary Problems and Core leacher, was a sludenl al Hunler College High School and did graduale work al Columbia. Before coming lo Evancler, Mrs. Barnell laughl al Theodore Roosevell, De Will Clinlon, and James Monroe, among olhers. For lhirleen years Mrs. Barnell has laughl al Evander and has lormed lhe following opinion aboul leaching here, l enjoy il, find il exciling and an inspiralion. Mrs. Barnell now resides in Manhallan wilh her husband and son. When away lrom school, her inleresls are polilics and reading. MR. FRANK R. BELLINO Among lhe members ol our Heallh Educalion Deparlmenl is Mr. Bellino, who has been leaching swimming lor lhirly-lwo years, and who has recenlly become lhe coach ol lhe Bowling Team. Mr. Bellino allended Sluyvesanl High School, and laler wenl on lo sludy engineering al Cooper Union. His hobbies include boaling, lishing, and hunling, bul his lavorile is being lhe repair man around lhe house, where he can be wilh his wile and lhree sons. MRS. DORA BLOOMFIELD Mrs. Dora E. Bloomfield, one ol our many science leachers, came lo Evander in I943. ln oblaining her B.S. in leaching, she allended bolh Hunler and Columbia. Besides leaching general science, she also enjoys leaching biology. Belore coming lo Evander, she laughl in Haaren High School. She is also in charge ol service records and awards.

MRS. MOLDENKE One who has been sfimulafing and helpful, bofh fo her home- room class and fo her subiecf classes, is Mrs. Moldenke. A feacher of general science, biology and zoology, Mrs. Moldenke has been wifh Evander since Sepfember, l934. She lives in Park Hill, Yonkers, wifh her husband and her fwelve-year-old son. Among ofher hob- bies, Mrs. Moldenke enioys oufdoor nafure sfudy and planf collecf- ing. She and her husband have wriffen a book on fhis subiecf enfifled Planfs of The Bible. Mrs. Moldenke considers feaching mosf grafifying, because almosf all sfudenfs progress fhroughouf fhe years. The disfressing momenfs are irksome af fhe momenf, buf fhey are soofhed over wifh fhe passing of +ime. MRS. MOLLIE NEWMAN Among fhe feachers who will long remain in fhe minds of graduafing Evanderifes is Mrs. Newman, who nof only feaches Lafin buf also music. Mrs. Newman complefed her educafion af Hunfer College and Columbia Universify. Mrs. Newman derives a greaf deal of pleasure from fravel- ing, especially in Europe. This is parfly because she enioys speak- ing fhe diverse languages. Her chief recreafion is golf, in which she has won fiffeen frophies. Though she spends a greaf deal of fime on fhe golf course, Mrs. Newman manages fo devofe some fime 'ro Evander's golf feam, of which she is fhe coach. MRS. EMILY NATHAN Mrs. Emily Nafhan, faculfy advisor of fhe Senior Arisfa, has been feaching hisfory and economics in Evander for six years. She affended Hunfer College and received her Masfer of Economics degree af New York Universify. She says fhaf feaching is a mosf safisfying career, and she finds feaching in Evander parficularly safisfying because fhe sfu- denf body represenfs a cross secfion of our cify and nafion. She gefs greaf pleasure from wafching sfudenfs develop menfally and spirifually, and finds fhaf, even fhough individual abilify and per- formance vary greafly, almosf all fhe sfudenfs are warm and responsive.
