Dr. John lvl. Brophy, who owns a lovely home in Yonlcers, received his BA. aT C.C.N.Y., BS. aT Columbia, and Ph.D. aT Fordham. l-le TaughT several subiecTs before becoming our Dear oT Boys, including speech, music, and healTh educaTion. She has been an English Teacher, guidance counselor, and college adviser. lvirs. Mr. Schwariz says, l've enioyed -being a guidance counselor, because' i'r has given me an opporfunily +o help young people, bu+ we have loo many pupils and Too liHle +ime. This 'rerm l've inlroduced an orienlalrion class for seniors. I hope if will be a success and fha? we can sel up more such programs in Jrhe fu'rure. Mrs. Bowden, malhemalics leacher and guidance counselor, has been a member of our faculfy for 25 years. She and her husband, graduafes of Evander Childs, are lhe parenfs of Jrwo lovely children. Mrs. Bowden's hobby is gardening. She Talces greal pride in growing planls, and would go in for gardening on a much larger scale if she had more lime. Mrs. Bowden especially enioys worlcing wifh s+uden'rs who are plan- ning engineering as a career. Mr. Josephs has been a guidance counselor for eigh+ years. l-lis rnaior inferesf is The siudy of lileralure and of human beings. Oulside of school he enioys music. A+ The momenl Mr. Josephs is worlcing on his Ph.D. l-le has Two daughlers, age 'ren and six, who are, of course, his grea+es1' inleresl. Mr. Josephs says, Know yourself, be yourself, and follow your own slandards for success and happiness, and no+ neces- sarily Jrhose l'ha'r ofhers have esfablished for ihemselvesf' and guidance...
